Unscripted Durham

This hotel was very clean and decorated well. The staff were really friendly, offering suggestions of places to eat and just chit chatting in general. We also really liked the pool area, it had a lot of good seating and stayed open late.

Unscripted failed to meet my expectations for a Hyatt property. A foul and persistent odor in our room, mildew and dirty grout in the shower and not enough towels. Virtually zero ambiance in the coffee bar, and an extremely limited breakfast items, which happened to be frozen, and reheated. However, the hotel is in a good location, walking distance to good restaurants and entertainment venues. We will not choose unscripted for our next visit to Durham.

Gym flooring not professional grade, AC needed to be fixed on arrival but that was done quicky, be aware that you might book an internal room w/ no windows, parking costs $25

Everything was good but the cleanliness of the room. Splattered stains on the back of the wall (wallpaper) and about 2-inches of dust behind the bedside table and bed. You could see it between the space of the table and bed. Stained area on the boxspring cover.

They ruined.a perfectly good barn when they converted this motel 6 into a Hyatt. Complete shock and to say I was less than overwhelmed is a total understatement. I’d give this place 0 stars but Yvette was the only redeeming quality. Don’t lose her because she’s a pleasure and almost made my miserable stay bearable

We were very disappointed with this hotel. I can’t believe Hyatt put their name on it. First off the staff was very friendly but…. Our room clean, but it had an old musty smell that was covered with cleaning supply smell. The walk in shower did not have a door that closed, 1/4 was wide open. The old shower head sprayed water all over the bathroom floor up and pooled by the door to the bathroom. This was probably the source of the musty smell. They advised having breakfast leading you to believe there was a kitchen. Well, again we were disappointed, there was a breakfast menu, but very underwhelming and reminded my of an old Days Inn quality. Last the lobby bar was horrible , both nights they had a DJ blaring music in an empty bar. Horrible, not a place to have a drink and relax. The A/C in the room barely kept the temperature between 75 and 75 degrees according to the thermostat, felt much warmer and humid. Between the smell and temperature in the room we left a day early. Skip this hotel!

decent room. As with most things the pics are professional and show much nicer/newer hotel than what is there. There are large gaps around the door the large resident roaches can crawl through- straight into your room.

Horrible Experience!!! All rooms overlook a murky watered pool where loud thumping music is played all day and night until 10 pm. The rooms are musty and smell of mildew. The management thinks the pool is Nicky’s Beach ….. not even close! Unable to sleep or relax in our room!!! The hotel and pool are rundown. By noon , there are no towels, lounge chairs are broken as well as umbrellas! No security.. townies sneak in and use the pool as well as steal the towels!! Extremely disappointed! My son will be a freshman at Duke in the fall and we will give our business to the Marriot or hotels on campus… certainly not to Unscripted or as we call it … The Bates Hotel!! Never Never stay there. Durham has so many better options. Big Mistake!

Terrible hotel. Apparently the pool level rooms (2 floors) are all treated with extra chemicals due to exposure etc. This makes the room "smell" quite bad. Light seeps through various cracks in the doors and curtains. Avoid this property if you can. It's a major disappointment and should not be considered a Hyatt at all. Additionally the on site food option is quite poor.

Great overnight stay with my daughter for a girls trip to see the Carolina Blaze! Clean, friendly staff and central location.
