Beautiful old hotel with recent renovations. There is a dress code for day or night, though.

Gorgeous hotel with lots of rich history and incredible atmosphere. The staff are incredibly kind and professional.

Rooms are a little small but it’s an old hotel so that’s expected. We asked for extra pillows and they arrived in just a few minutes. It was our anniversary and they sent complimentary cheesecake! Great location.

We recently visited for my wife’s birthday and had an amazing time. Food: We found ourselves eating at the resort a lot because the food is amazing. We live in the Austin area so the prices were reasonable to us. The Sunday brunch really is as amazing as people say with oysters, crab, shrimp, roast, ham and a lot more. We didn’t do breakfast as the hotel is next to Millers Sea Wall which has an amazing chicken fried steak I couldn’t pass up. That said, we did eat for lunch, dinner and bar snacks. Just about everything on the menu was amazing. Shout out to our waitress we had for lunch Christina. She made the whole experience feel like fine dining. Rooms They are smaller but really, why do you need a big room? Also, the place is historic so the rooms are not going to be huge. We found it perfect for my wife and I. Bed and pillows were super comfy and I got amazing sleep/naps in which is normally a struggle for me. We had a king room so we had the fancy shower which was cool and nice to have. I’m 6’4 and everything was perfectly sized for me. Hotel It’s a beautiful hotel that is well taken care of for good reason. They did amazing keeping the classic beach early 1900s look while adding modern touches. It also has a nice store in it with some great items. The place smelled amazing. The hallways have this awesome pattern that we learned was padding so it really cut down the noise in the hallway. You also have it in your room so we never heard or neighbors. There are plenty of seats with great views as well as bikes and it is dog friendly. Pool Pool was nice and had a classic look to it with umbrellas everywhere. That said, the pool could use some attention. The music is Vegas pool club vibe which didn’t match anyone who was there. Luckily someone brought a speaker and put on some normal music which made everyone move closer to that person. That said I do want to call out Skyler and Dalton. They were quick to get you some amazing drinks. Super friendly people as well. We enjoyed chatting with them as they came up with drinks for us to try. I can’t remember the servers name but the two girls working the pool area were amazing as well. Bar I am blown away that this is a hotel bar. Not only is the whole look of it this classy wood and red, but the drinks and staff have to be the best I’ve ever had. Sam and Victoria are truly one in a million when it comes to bartenders. They were so nice and every drink they made was an absolute masterpiece. Sam was great at suggesting new drinks for us to try and Victoria made this drink that tasted like a strawberry short cake. It was not too sweet and not too bitter. Just the right amount. Also, Sam makes one of if not THE best margaritas you will have. Anytime these two were at the bar we were there. Even if you’re not staying at the Galvez, you need to visit these two. I didn’t see one person who they didn’t greet by name. There were so many repeat people coming back the whole week. Sam and Victoria would greet you by name, get you a drink right away, would ensure you were never sitting empty and provided great conversation. Parking Valet is what they offer upfront. That said, there is a garage next door who charges $18 for 24 hours. Valet however was quick and friendly. You just shoot them a text and they are off to get your car. If you are a larger group with multiple cars I recommend giving them a 15-20 minute heads up. The lot is behind the hotel so they do have to run over there and drive down the Seawall without a tourist smashing into them. Did we leave the hotel much? No. Are we disappointed? Absolutely not. This place is an absolute gem and worth every cent you spend on for the room, food, drink and staff. I have decided this is a twice a year spot for us. Just please please please change the music at the pool.

We love the Grand Galvez and try to come down each year for my wife birthday and/or wedding anniversary. Jan at the front took great care of us, please make sure the Young's really appreciate her efforts in making our 4 day stay special. Also make sure you give the bartender named Victoria special praise for her hospitality. She was a delight to talk to my wife said. She took the time to getting to know us. The music at the bar was prefect also. Still wish you played some old 70's rock and roll and country music at the pool but I understand some of the crowd were not in their 60's.

Grand Galvez never disappoints. I’m there 2-3 times yearly and love it.
