The Grand Galvez is Galveston's landmark beachfront hotel, a 1911 Spanish-Colonial 'Queen of the Gulf' overlooking the Seawall that reopened after a full historic restoration as a Marriott Autograph Collection resort. Expect period grandeur — palm-lined grounds, a spa, a pool and the storied Peacock Alley bar — paired with updated rooms directly across from the beach. It is the island's best-known historic address and a short ride from the downtown gay bars.
