Seven Gables Inn, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

I had a great experience staying at Seven Gables. The property is beautiful, and the views of the ocean were absolutely amazing. The only downside was that upon arrival, several times throughout the evening, and again early in the morning, we had terribly loud neighbors who were yelling and slamming doors. I understand that Seven Gables is not at fault for how guests choose to carry themselves, but unfortunately, it did affect the overall experience and made the stay less relaxing than I had hoped. All in all, aside from the noise from the neighboring guests, it was a great experience. The location, views, and overall setting were wonderful, and I would definitely consider staying here again.

Do you like paying upwards of $600 a night at a hotel that makes your grandma say “this reminds me of my grandparents house”? Then this is the place for you. This place has everything: Free wine and cookies, brass lamps galore, miss match furniture from the 19th century, drains that don’t drain, a fridge in the bathroom, champagne at check in and a sign that says ‘we don’t cater to dietary requirements’. In all seriousness this place just has literally zero qualifications to be charging $500+ a night. The hospitality as well as modern conveniences were non existent, pricing needs to be updated ***to a nightly rate that represents the service and product.***

We only had two days in the hotel and on the first evening when we wanted to take a shower we found that there was no hot water. We contacted the night manager and she said she couldn't do anything, you need to contact the front desk in the morning. We wrote a message to the hotel mail, to the hotel booking, but there was no response. The next day we went to the front desk and said about the problem and that we wanted compensation, because we were forced to take a shower in freezing cold water after which I had a fever. We were told that tomorrow the main manager will come when the check out and you can discuss it with him. The next day, when we were supposed to move out and we had our own plans, we were forced to wait until lunch, they said that the manager was late and they spoke very rudely to us. We went to the front desk and there was Lady Claudia who came out to us after a while without a smile, did not introduce herself who she was and started an argument with us. She started lying that she fixed the water on the same day, but that's not true because we washed in ice water between 11-12 p.m. She also said that someone turned off our boiler that day ago there was no hot water. She spoke very rudely to us and did not offer any help or compensation. There were also ants in the room. When checking into this hotel, be prepared for the fact that the staff does not guarantee the availability of basic needs and you will not be compensated for the spoiled rest.

We only stayed two days at the Seven Gables, but it was the two most relaxing days we had on our Californian road trip. The accommodation is extremely welcoming and has some lovely little extra touches that make it stand out, such as the glass of champagne on arrival, the free freshly baked cookies and wine in the evening. We were first given a partial sea view room on the ground floor, which was a nice room but we longed for a little more space and better view with the extra privacy an upper floor provides. We spoke with the staff and they helped us choose from the three vacant rooms they had. Once we changed rooms, we felt right at home. Had a beautiful full sea view from our bay window. I can imagine the fireplace being so cosy on a cold winters night, but we were blessed with lots of sunshine and the room was perfect. Only thing to note is that I don't think there is any A/C in the rooms,so it may get hot in the summer. We visited six hotels on our journey and this is the one we would definitely head back to.

What a beautiful spot! I stayed here for one night as part of a longer trip and this hotel was lovely. The staff were accomodating and friendly, the location was great and the views were amazing. The check in process was easy and we were able to park on the road with no issues. I would recommend this hotel.

We had a frustrating experience with Seven Gables Inn due to a clear pricing discrepancy that was never properly resolved. We initially booked our stay and later called to add an additional night, agreeing to a small upgrade fee. At no point did we agree to rebook the stay at a significantly higher nightly rate. However, the added night was charged at a much higher rate that did not align with our original booking or what was discussed. When I reached out, the manager acknowledged there may have been a system error when the additional reservation was created. Despite this, they refused to correct the pricing and instead offered only a partial reimbursement that didn’t address the issue. I followed up multiple times to resolve this directly, but eventually stopped receiving responses altogether. It was especially disappointing because the discrepancy was clear, the error was acknowledged in writing, and there was no meaningful effort to fix it. I would strongly recommend confirming all pricing in writing and carefully reviewing final charges if you book here.

Me and the wife stayed here for our honeymoon. I wanted something more secluded and romantic. Went based on pictures and reviews. We were very very impressed, service was awesome. Rooms were clean. Morning breakfast had good variety and change. And was situated directly across the street from lovers point.

We had high expectations for our stay at this bed-and-breakfast. Our expectations were exceeded. The location is remarkable. Our room may have been small by area but felt huge with the windows looking out over the grounds and coast. The interior decorations fit perfectly with nice touches in the common areas and rooms. The breakfast was wonderful and honestly, I can’t recall anything about the property or our stay that was off.

Lovely place to stay and the room was sublime. A place with no “room service” or elevators so if your knees are weak don’t stay in the higher rooms. To get items like coffee packets or water you have to go to the main lobby building. Waking up to the sunrise was delightful! And to see the otters play was so much fun! Breakfast-Selective fruits, coffee,tea and oat milk. Juices, quiche and a few baked selections. Breakfast is decent but don’t expect any extras - oatmeal yes but no walnuts, potatoes but no salsa sour creme or avocado. Overall very happy and would definitely comeback in the summer if the price is right ☺️

Very eclectic, charming, welcoming and old-school luxurious. Love the Victorian architecture and accompanying furniture. View and location is perfect.
