Il NYC Pride è la più grande celebrazione LGBTQ+ al mondo — una settimana di eventi che culmina nella Pride March lungo la Fifth Avenue fino all'angolo fra Christopher Street e Greenwich Avenue, i blocchi attorno allo Stonewall Inn. La marcia richiama oltre due milioni di partecipanti e spettatori, evento più grande del pianeta nel suo genere e uno dei più grandi raduni annuali di New York City.
Il programma Heritage of Pride 2026 va dal 20 al 28 giugno circa, con la marcia principale l'ultima domenica di giugno (28 giugno 2026). La marcia parte da 26th Street e Fifth Avenue, scende a sud e poi a ovest attraverso Greenwich Village, e termina su Christopher Street — proprio davanti allo Stonewall Inn, l'edificio in cui nel 1969 è nato il movimento moderno per i diritti LGBTQ+. Il simbolismo della chiusura a Stonewall è voluto e irripetibile: nessun'altra marcia Pride al mondo termina al proprio punto d'origine.
La settimana precedente include: il Rally and Concert al Pier 97, la Dyke March (sabato prima della marcia principale, da Bryant Park a Stonewall), il Trans Day of Action (venerdì), lo Spirit of Stonewall Rally e oltre 200 eventi di comunità in tutti e cinque i borough. Il PrideFest in Hudson Street la domenica corre parallelo al percorso della marcia.
La scala del NYC Pride richiede pianificazione: gli hotel vanno sold out sei mesi prima del weekend Pride; i marciapiedi della Fifth Avenue raggiungono la capienza entro le 10 del mattino della marcia; il West Village diventa di fatto impraticabile dopo. Alloggiate a Midtown o Chelsea, prendete posto sui punti di osservazione entro le 9 e dedicate l'intera giornata all'esperienza.
Il weekend Pride 2025 ha avuto un significato doppio come sede del World Pride — l'evento internazionale che ruota fra le città globali e attira partecipanti da oltre 100 paesi.
