Informazioni sull'evento

Our next selection for the Unicorn Bar’s Queer Classics Book Club is Song in a Weary Throat: Memoir of an American Pilgrimage by Pauli Murray, one of the great civil rights autobiographies of the 20th century. Murray (1910-1985) was an activist, feminist, poet, lawyer, and Episcopal priest. An early Freedom Rider, she was friends with Thurgood Marshall and Eleanor Roosevelt and her call for an NAACP for women spurred the founding of NOW (National Organization for Women). Murray was a self-described “she/he personality” who unsuccessfully sought to obtain testosterone from her doctors. Join us at the Unicorn on Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 to 7:30 PM as we discuss this critically lauded book - winner of the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award and the Lillian Smith Book Award - about an amazing queer elder, Pauli Murray! Purchase your copy at Rough Draft in Kingston. Mention the Unicorn Bar Queer Classics Book Club and get 10% off. FREE Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required!
