Hotel Chelsea

What a place. The kind you’d only find in New York City. Vivid throwback lobby with original paintings and photographs, keeping with the spirit of the hotel as an artist colony. Though small and sometimes crowded it’s easy to get around people. Excellent front desk staff. Only two elevators but never had to wait. Paintings in hallways and rooms as well, all pretty fun, some very good ones to boot. The suite was extraordinarily spacious — 1700 square feet — with two bedrooms and plenty of room for a rollaway in living room if needed. Super comfortable furniture, of the period. A record player with records provided. Terrifically comfortable bed and great kitchen with everything you need including good sized frig. My bet is the rooms facing the street are less quiet at night than the back, but street is empty during the day. Good restaurant with lots to offer for breakfast and decent coffee. Will definitely go back.

We picked hotel chelsea due to its history and location. It's a great facility we got 11m a loft and it was roomy and bathroom was great. Complimentary snacks in room. Great view and tub. Bed perfect. Nice blackout curtains no noise or light issues. Can quickly get to high line or chelsea market and close to west village and Greenwich and soho. Just a short ride on subway from midtown for shows. We walked to little Italy and east Village as well would highly recommend this facility.

I loved this hotel. So rich in history and luxurious while still being cool. Great atmosphere and gym is lovely. An unexpected treat.

We loved our recent stay at the Hotel Chelsea in room 6A. Though the hotel was recently renovated, it retains its original charm. We were in a king room on the front of the hotel with a balcony (room type was 'The Chelsea'). The room was not large but was beautiful, including the marble bathroom. Lots of in-room amenities like a Nespresso machine, robes, slippers, and high end toiletries. The hotel is part of Leading Hotels of the World - it's free to join their Leaders Club, which gets you free breakfast daily ($24 credit per person), and the hotel cafe had lots of delicious options and friendly staff. Note that there is street noise if you are on the front of the hotel - garbage trucks, etc - but we had no problem sleeping. Also, the air conditioning is easy to use and super silent.

t was a beautifully unique hotel. The rooms were roomy and lush. We thought the bar was really classic and the bartenders were true mixologists. The properties style of Victorian gothic, exterior plush greenery and eclectic artwork make it a stunning stay. We enjoyed staying there and next time we plan to try the restaurants

So, I will start by saying that I am not basing this review in any way off of the problems I had with the room on arrival, as once I spoke to the Duty Manager away from reception these issues were resolved perfectly and immediately. The hotel itself is just so full of character it almost oozes out of the walls and its location is just perfect to either walk, or hop on the subway to the rest of Manhattan. The replacement room (an upgrade) was lovely and greatly appreciated and most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the doorman/bell-boys and girls. However and I am going to go against a lot of reviews I have read here; I stay in a lot of 4/5 star hotels both for work and leisure and I really think this hotel needs to pay some attention to the training its reception staff receive. Maybe I just got unlucky but there were generally 3 on duty and not once in the 4 days I was there did I get a "hello" or any kind of acknowledgment as I walked past, in fact several times I had to initiate the conversation as they were all sat there heads down glued to their Iphones. It was almost as if they were trying too hard to fit the super cool and trendy vibe of the area . A real shame because it leaves the wrong impression.

We loved staying at the Hotel Chelsea. The artwork was wonderful. We spent one evening walking a few floors with a glass of wine enjoying the artwork. The hotel was located in a charming and fun part of town with easy access to walking the High Line each morning for exercise. When we return to NYC, The Hotel Chelsea will be our first choice to stay.
