Nice hotel with friendly staff. Lobby could use a touch up but was pleasantly surprised with our room for the price point.

I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at The Tillary Hotel to think twice. From the moment we arrived, the room was tired, worn, and poorly maintained. The room safe didn’t work, but the biggest issue was the toilet. During our 7-night stay, it required 4–5 maintenance visits and remained in an unsanitary condition for 5 of the 7 nights. A clean, fully functioning toilet is a basic expectation of any hotel room. Despite reporting the issue immediately and giving the hotel multiple opportunities to resolve it, the problem was never properly fixed, leaving us with a room that was simply not fit for purpose. On several occasions between maintenance visits, my partner had to temporarily fix the toilet himself just so we had a functioning toilet and to prevent waste from remaining in the room while we waited for maintenance to attend. No paying guest should ever have to carry out repairs to basic hotel facilities. Our holiday was repeatedly interrupted by maintenance visits, and instead of enjoying our time in New York, we were constantly chasing repairs and raising concerns. What disappointed me most wasn’t just the condition of the room, it was the hotel’s complete lack of accountability. We were initially told that only the resort fee could be refunded and that we had to contact Agoda and Booking.com for anything further. After spending considerable time doing so, I was informed that The Tillary Hotel itself has the authority to approve and issue a refund. I have since escalated my complaint directly to both the hotel supervisor, Emily, and the Area General Manager, Abel Cartagena, but my emails have been ignored. Hotels can experience maintenance issues, but how they respond defines their customer service. In this case, the repeated failures, poor communication, and lack of accountability have left me with no confidence in this hotel. I cannot recommend staying here and would encourage anyone who experiences similar issues to document everything and pursue their complaint. I certainly won’t be returning.

I had a lovely stay in one of the luxury king rooms. They have a nice communal rooftop deck. My only complaints are the girl at the front desk was rude, there's not much within walking distance and the free coffee & pastry is a joke. Unlimited coffee and maybe some fruit in the lobby would be way better. That's all people really want. Overall was a good stay.

Great location, value for money, decent hotel to stay in Brooklyn. Walking distance from Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo. The ‘T’ is within 1 mile. Overall great experience at the Tillary. Decent rooms, super clean and comfy.

****Updating my review. got off the phone with Abel, and he was incredibly helpful. He took the time to listen, clearly explained the situation, and made things right. I really appreciate the level of customer service, professionalism, and follow-through he provided. Thanks, Abel! ******* The location was solid and the room size was decent, especially with the subway only about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. But overall, the hotel didn’t really match the luxury boutique feel from the photos. The walls were very thin, the hallways smelled like weed both nights, and some areas of the room had noticeable discoloration and cleanliness issues. The smell eventually made its way into the room and got pretty annoying. I also followed up with management several times and never received a response back, which was frustrating. They do provide coffee and pastries each morning, which was a nice touch, but the coffee was just okay and the pastries were pretty dry. The hotel also advertises museum tickets, but you have to purchase them yourself first and then wait to be reimbursed. I didn’t end up doing it, but based on the communication during the stay, I wouldn’t expect a quick turnaround on that reimbursement either. Not a horrible stay, but definitely expected better for the price and branding.
