This restaurant is truly phenomenal on all counts. Our party of three included two parents and a 7 year old. My Loup’s atmosphere was very approachable for a family that was looking for an elevated meal without a more formal structure. The small, medium, large plate format also was amenable to sharing and selecting some dishes that veer to the parent palate vs. kids without alienating either side. The service was also notable. Our server knew the menu very well and was particularly astute to a dropped fork or a wrong drink. The raw bar seafood selection was fresh and dressed up in creative pairings. The mains balanced richness with acidity. Never too heavy; very flavorful and true to the ingredients. The chocolate cake for dessert was exactly how you would imagine the cake in Matilda would taste - moist, decadent, deeply chocolatey. An amazing meal was had by all! Thank you, My Loup!

The food was good, service was great. Although I felt it to be pricey for the restaurant category. And there's a mandatory kitchen tip added on the bill. I'd think they could afford staff at $50/plate for a main course.

Plate de mer Oysters with sauces and horseradish - very good. Shrimp aioli and crackers - poached or pickled? Seemed slightly overcooked and served in a glass jar with what tasted like its poaching liquid. I couldn't taste the shrimp too much, only lemon. Nothing wrong with mayo and crackers Razor clam with buttermilk - sliced so thin it was hardly discernable. No taste of clams Fluke and cucumber shots - good but again lost the flavor of fluke and 4 tiny cubes of fluke. Good flavor from the cucumber liquid it was served with. Softshell with nduja and pickle It was fried to the point where there was no softness or flavor of crab. Nduja and pickles were the only things I could taste and lost the flavor of the main ingredient. Sweatbreads - good Quail "Galan-Terrine" - on the 1st bite I bit into a large piece of bone. Tasted almost raw and needed to chew very well, but never got the chance. I informed them and they let me know that it happens sometimes and the waiter forgot to tell me that a bone could be present. Something I didn't understand since I felt no bone should be in any bite. When I mentioned the opinion that it seemed raw they informed me it was “sous-vide” and isn’t cooked traditionally. Of course it is going to taste raw. Deserts Soft serve with blueberry sauce and crunch - not impressive and very simple Glass jar with ‘cajeta’ and cream - nothing special Service was good and the pace of the meal relaxed. Bartender was a bit loud when conversing with customers. The flavors on some things are too strong and don't allow the main ingredient to sing. On most dishes the star of the plate was overshadowed by the flavors of the accompanying garnish. PS: It made me think of when I ate at ‘her place supper club’, 4 or 5 years ago. One dish was the steak tartar that was served with blue cheese on top. I didn’t understand how it was meant to complement the chopped beef. Maybe on a burger but too strong for the raw meat.

Do yourself a favor, request Dan - get the pickled shrimp and then get a martini with the pickled shrimp brine. Fantastic service, fantastic experience!
