Schenley Park (Fruit Loop)

The wooded southwest corner of Schenley Park, around Prospect Drive, is Pittsburgh's best-known historic gay cruising ground, a spot locals have called the "Fruit Loop" since at least the 1980s. Documented in the local press as well as in cruising directories, it is a long-standing, generally tolerated meeting place set among the park's trails and overlooks. Like all public parks it is patrolled, so discretion and awareness of local law are advised; it is quietest by day and busier after dark in the warmer months. It sits between Oakland and Squirrel Hill, an easy trip from the East End.
