Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! Cape Town

This is without a doubt one of the nicest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The location is safe, and close to top attractions such as Table Mountain, V and A Waterfront and Bo-Kaap. The hotels facilities arecworld class but it was the friendliness and warmth of the staff that really took my stay to the next level. Highly recommended.

DO NOT BOOK ANY SPA TREATMENT HERE As a therapist myself I was completely shocked by the complete disregard for standard safety and cleanliness. We got there 10min early as we are used to filling out basic paperwork before any treatment. The receptionist said there was no need. We got told to change into robes and white slippers (disposable ones ) yet all 3 pairs of slippers where disgustingly dirty with hair all over it and already black underneath from the amount of people that had to wear the same dirty slippers over and over. We told the therapist we didn’t put them on because they where dirty and she just smiled and showed us to the room. No apologies and no other slippers where offered so we had to walk barefoot over dirty floors. There was no welcome tea ritual done at all, the 30min facial was cut to only 15min. They didn’t ask one question regarding skin type or even if our skin are sensitive to products or not. The 15min scalp massage was only 10min. There was multiple therapists going in and out of the room during the massage making the whole experience feel rushed, completely unprofessional and not relaxing at all. When the therapist said the treatment was done I already mentioned that was fast as I checked the time throughout and pointed out it was only 20min to 5 and my appointment was supposed to be 2 hours yet she didn’t say anything just left the room. We didn’t get offered a single drop of water or anything to drink during the whole 2hours we where there. I would never recommend this spa to anyone else. Felt disgusting having to wear dirty slippers or walking barefoot over dirty oily floors. I complained at the reception after our treatments and was told they cut the tea ritual because there was 3 of us and they normally do it during the soak, something no one asked us about or offered afterwards or before. They also said they started the treatment at 2:42pm and not at 3pm yet I pointed out that’s impossible since we where not even on the bed yet at that’s time, I even showed them a picture I took of the room with a time stamp 2:52pm and said I put my phone down at 2:57 when the therapist entered the room hence I know the treatment started on time at 3pm and finished too early at 4:40 instead of at 5pm since I was standing at reception at exactly 5pm already showered and changed after the treatment. There was no accountability, no apologies and we where not even offered a glass of water or the so called “tea ritual” they cut out even after the complaint. DO NOT BOOK ANY TREATMENT HERE, or be prepared to have your treatment time cut or for them to just remove stuff from your treatment with no explanation or compensation.

We’ve only been here for about 3 days and it’s been great so far. The service has been really good and me and my dad are very pleased with everything. Like the personal is really great (also shout out too djuma) and almost everyone is also really gorgeous for some reason hahaha. But thank you really for giving us a great stay and I’m sure it’ll stay like this until we’re gone again tho. For anyone reading this too I hope you have a great day!!!❤️

I had an amazing stay at Fire & Ice! by Protea Hotel for my birthday and spent two wonderful nights there. From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, everything was exceptional. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel made my birthday celebration even more special. A special thank you to Afika at reception, Tyrelle the waiter for their outstanding hospitality and excellent service. Your kindness, attention to detail, and warm welcome truly made my stay memorable. Thank you to the entire Fire & Ice! team for making my birthday celebration such a great experience. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again in the future.

I gotta make mention of their awesome bartender, Kyle. This young gentleman mixes amazing old fashioned whiskey and whiskey sour cocktails. The best I've ever had at the Fire and Ice hotel. Big ups Kyle. You're doing a great job 🥃🥃
