Cape Town has no full gay sauna in 2026. Hot House on Jarvis Street in De Waterkant, the city's gay sauna for more than 20 years, has closed and hasn't reopened. Ignore any guide that still sends you there.
The one dedicated venue is Shaft Cruise Zone at 299 Lower Main Road in Observatory, east of the city centre. It's a men-only, 18+ cruise club with a bar, a steam room, video lounges, a maze and cabins, but there's no pool or jacuzzi. Google lists it as open from noon to midnight, and until 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Its 2026 price list gave R150 before 18:00 and R190 after, with a student rate of R120. Massage studios that appear on map searches for "gay sauna" are massage businesses, not saunas, and we don't list them. Take a car to and from Observatory at night.
