この場所について Yah Yah's

Yah Yah's is a late-night bar and small club at 99 Smith Street in Fitzroy. Most nights it draws a mixed, mainstream crowd, so it isn't a gay bar. It is listed here for Thursgay, its queer Thursday night, which Melbourne's LGBTQ+ press has covered. Google reviews average 3.7 from nearly 1,000. Smith Street has several gay bars within a few minutes' walk, so it fits easily into a night along the strip. Check its socials to confirm Thursgay is running before you go.

It saddens me to go to an event, especially the one time without my backpack, (not having a backpack should have made my entrance and treatment easier) and immediately was prompted a question that shook me: how many drinks have you had tonight? I am 8 years sober from alcohol, unfortunately so many events take place in these alcohol selling establishments, if I wanna go and attend anything I have to cope with this and the people around me. As a sufferer of suspected TIAs, I have trouble with speech and articulation also because of my autism. I had full confidence my hidden disabilities lanyard, would mean I'd have more understanding if I was having any difficulties. I felt discriminated. I need a headset to help with sound until noise feels comfortable enough for me to adjust whether I still need it or if I can take it off. I sent a text to my support worker. Upon showing a staff member that felt easy to communicate with, a message on my phone to read how I told my worker of this discrimination, I say on my phone to read because it is overwhelmingly noisy due to the closeness of the outside to the doorway entrance, and then suddenly, 2 security just grabbed me by my arms, touching me without consent and also ignoring my lanyard. I really don't know why I put myself through going to these venues. I do it for the music and to feel like I fit in. I wish I had just stayed at my accommodation. I even purchased my ticket. What did the ticket buy me? Disability discrimination followed by being assaulted by two security guards. The only fun thing for me was being able to dance and having a room of drunks loving my dancing. Of course they would my dancing is the way it is because I drink sugary drinks and caffeine and am autistic.

The first venue I've ever been to that has bathroom monitors. Not only that, the fact that they are managers that assign themselves to that role is to be even more applauded. People may think it’s funny or silly but, as someone who has responded to multiple medical emergencies in club bathrooms, seeing this genuinely made my night. So please be kind to these guys, it’s not the most glamorous role but, it is way more important than you think!
