Tldr:
It's a catfish hotel - yes, the decorations look like the pictures, but when you're standing there, you start to realize they paid the most to their photographer. Good for them at least!
In case you need details for why I regret having to give them their obligatory star:
We booked a family trip back in April, for September. 3 rooms. We asked to be put on the top floor with a view, near each other as we were traveling as a family. We offered to pay extra to secure the rooms we wanted and were told multiple times by staff that it was not necessary and they would be happy to comply - I bet you saw this coming, they did none of this, our 3 rooms were on 3 different floors. The manager didn't seem to understand our disappointment.
The rooms, I will provide photos of. The carpet, oh the cursed carpet, probably installed by Jesus himself? And then never shampooed once, a true relic of mystery stains.
My biggest regret is not taking a photo of the ridiculous bathrooms, which you may notice, they also chose not to photograph. The shower barely fits one small person. You want to have a sensual shower experience with your significant other on vacation? TOO BAD YOU CAN'T FIT. We're not big, both of us are skinny and short, we were hitting our elbows on the sides while showing alone.
The shower was leaking outside of the bathroom wetting the carpet in the foyer. When I told front desk about this, we were acknowledged and nothing was done about this, they clearly weren't worried about that water damage.
Speaking of romance, the beds are harder than a stone plate, and I like a firm mattress. You get that bizarre two blanket system and they don't have one normal big blanket for couples sleeping together, presumably because romance is some kind of disgusting sin at this hotel.
On the 4th day our foyer light stopped working at which point I'd had it and requested to be moved to a less ridiculous room. Someone came in to look at our room and I guess confirm our complaints, and that person made our bathroom sink like cigarettes... The room was halfway cleaned and STUNK of cigarettes. We don't smoke.
At least they moved us to the 3rd floor, yay! Slightly better view. This room had the same exact leak in the shower as our first room, and the light in the foyer here was strobing rather than out... The bedsheets had BLOOD STAINS on them I kid you not... Photo provided. I gave up complaining at this point, we had two nights left at this cursed hotel so we decided to suck it up and make peace with our mistake.
I wanted to at least give the staff more credit because some of them were very nice, but some of y'all, should go work somewhere that makes you less cranky because hospitality is clearly NOT you calling.
The manager had the audacity to argue with my sister because she asked for extra towels because she had taken one to the beach, and returned it, completely undamaged, simply used. A towel.
First of all, ma'am, it's a TOWEL. Where do you come from even questioning your guests why they want an extra towel?! Is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, it's a towel.
Second, your towels have your logo embossed. So we're so sorry to advertise your business for you, with our reckless towel use. We really didn't mean to make it seem like your hotel is a place worth staying at.
In conclusion: this place is called Luxor but luxury has nothing to do with that, it's just an unfortunate naming coincidence.
