Südblock is a bar, cafe and event space on Skalitzer Straße, right at Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg. It opened in 2010 and has a strong queer and left-leaning following, though it is a mixed place rather than a gay bar. It hosts parties, readings, political events and its own take on karaoke. A large corner terrace overlooks the Kotti junction, and the cakes are homemade.
It opens from 5pm on weekdays and 3pm on Sundays until around midnight. It rates 4.4 across about 2,300 reviews. Kottbusser Tor is busy and gritty at night, so watch your phone and bag around the station.
