この場所について Christopher Isherwood residence

Christopher Isherwood rented a room in a boarding house at Nollendorfstraße 17 in Schöneberg in the early 1930s, leaving in 1933 after the Nazis took power. His landlady became Fräulein Schroeder in Goodbye to Berlin (1939), the book that led to the play I Am a Camera and later Cabaret. A memorial plaque marks the building. It is a private apartment block, so you look from the street. Nollendorfplatz is around the corner, and the surrounding streets, especially Motzstraße and Fuggerstraße, are still Berlin's oldest gay district, full of bars. The pink triangle memorial plaque at Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station is a two-minute walk away.

Very happy I was able to stop by and see this place. Isherwood’s work has been so important to me, so just being able to visit was very special.

The interior of the house was featured in the movie "Christopher and his kind", based on Isherwood's autobiography of the same name. On the street corner they shot a Cafè scene, was surprised to see it wasn't really a Cafè but that they stuck to the real street. If you've watched the movie, it's a nice experience to see the real thing

If you are in the area, it's of historical significance for fans of Christopher Isherwood. Granted, you'll be looking at a plaque on the wall and can only imagine life at that time. The stories he wrote were the inspiration of the famous movie "Cabaret."
