Memorial to Homosexuals Persecuted Under Nazism

The Memorial to Homosexuals Persecuted Under Nazism stands on the eastern edge of the Tiergarten, across Ebertstraße from the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Unveiled on 27 May 2008 and designed by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, it is a tilted grey concrete block with a small window showing a looping film of same-sex couples kissing. It commemorates the men persecuted under Paragraph 175, thousands of whom died in concentration camps, and the lesbians and trans people also targeted. It is open-air and free, a few minutes' walk from the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz. Wreaths are laid here around Berlin Pride each July.
