I was dining alone and made the delicious mistake of ordering a platter for two people… Tasty selection of meats and cheese, and a lovely class of Sicilian pinot. I didn’t finish it all but the staff let me take it to go. Very good!

In the heart of Palermo lies Retrobottega, a place that captivates not only with its cuisine, but also with the welcoming staff, always kind, helpful, and attentive. But, of course, the real strength is the food! 😋 The baked anelletti flan with ragù and fried eggplant was excellent, but what really left a lasting impression was the sensational sfincione, in which all the ingredients, from the provolone to the anchovy, blended harmoniously, each maintaining its own identity and creating a truly remarkable balance of flavors. A place I recommend to anyone who wants to discover or rediscover authentic Palermo cuisine, based on tradition and top-quality products. Thank you, Giacomo, for this pleasant experience! ❤️

Wide selection of quality dishes, friendly staff... I had lunch there three times during my stay in Palermo. The salads were very good and generous, the mixed platter was exceptional, and the cannoli were excellent, with a fresh, delicate, and light filling!

We wanted a slow lunch with a decent bottle of wine. Which is what we got at a very reasonable price. We had the cheese and cured meet sharing board and one of the small pizza breads. The board was excellent with generous selection and variety of meats and cheeses. The cover charge included the crunchy bread and olives for starters. The price of the wines are very reasonable with a wide selection to cover most tastes. So the best value for money and by far the best quality meal we had in Palermo. Wish we had found it at the start of our week rather than the end.

After eating at many “traditional” restaurants this was a welcome change. The food is excellent. The servers were able to make great suggestions that were really delicious.we had vegetables dishes that we had been missing during our sojourn . Even the wine suggestion was perfect . The server whose name escapes me was fabulous. She understood that we were tired of pasta and pizza and brought us a squash dish, spinach , salad,and a charcuterie board that was exceptional! At the end of it we were surprised at the reasonable bill. I don’t do reviews but this restaurant was worth my time. MG On great takeaway in the shop on the main floor.
