The Cock Hotel

We booked 2 rooms from 5th-7th July. Came for the weekend to attend Rammstein concert. Upon arrival we were greeted and checked in promptly and smoothly. We were given room 10 which sits at the front of the hotel. The room was boiling hot however they had put a fan in the room so that was a great help. Only a few observations from the room to be honest. The bed was very comfortable however not sure if the bed was slightly broken on one side as it felt as if you were rolling out as it appeared to be quite sloped. The shower was fine however the shower head rail was pretty much hanging off. Rooms just need a little TLC, still perfectly acceptable and very clean. Breakfast was very good although the Sunday morning felt a little manic and the 2 young girls looked like they could have really used some extra help. We ate in the pub on Friday night which was very nice. A little annoying that they had run out of quite a few things but what we did have was lovely. Chicken, leek and mushroom pie was very nice. All in all I would certainly stay here again and I would recommend to others. Just needs a little TLC.

We stay at the cock around once a month, the staff are absolutely amazing - especially Christine who is always incredibly kind to us and always goes out of her way to make us feel welcome and makes sure we have the best time possible - she's what makes our stays so enjoyable. The rooms are always spotless, the food is really nice and the atmosphere is brilliant. Can't wait to come back

In the morning I wished to order a coffee with soya milk unable to order as I was informed the Soya milk was in the fridge in the kitchen & the floor had been cleaned & was a ‘slip hazard’ went to Bean for coffee instead

I stayed here on business, so unfortunately didn't get much chance to explore the town itself, but the location was great. Room 22 was right on the courtyard, and on both the Friday and Saturday night there was loud live (or live-sounding) music plus people drinking right outside the window until late. It wasn't a huge issue in itself, it's a pub after all, but I wish this had been flagged at booking or check-in - as I had very early starts both days. The room itself was very tired. The bedroom was fine-ish, but the bathroom flooring was peeling and uneven, and — worst of all — there was pubic hair left in the bath along with hair on the sink and taps from previous guests or cleaning staff. I mentioned this to staff at the time but nothing really came of it, which was disappointing. A disappointing stay, mainly let down by cleanliness and room condition.

We booked this hotel as we were attending my father's brother's wake, my uncles as you can imagine this was a very sad occasion which was held in the conservative club almost opposite the hotel. When we arrived we just dropped our cases and went straight to the conservative club, we were late due to horrendous traffic on the M1. When we left the wake, a very sad occasion that we shared with all our family, we said our goodbyes and walked across to the hotel, my husband settled my father in his room, when he came back, it sounded like a disco party, banging base that went on until midnight, we were not made aware that there would be super loud music 8 meters from our room!! On to the room , it was shabby with lino on the bathroom floor that was like a roller coaster ride, the area around the base of the handbasin was gray and grimey, disgusting, thank goodness we had been at a wake and had plenty of tissues as there was no toilet paper! The lampshade on my side of the bed was broken at at a funny angle, the toilet seat was loose and broken. The toilet bowl was black, disgusting . Breakfast, I stupidly ordered a full English breakfast, my father and husband went for the continental option with no problems, my full English was horrible, the sausage skins were so tough I couldn't cut trough them, my first attempt almost knocked my tiny egg from the plate, all in all a disaster and we will never return! £204.50p for 2 rooms including breakfast, we assume the nerve jarring bass banging music was free.

Prime location to explore stony Stratford excellent parking. Wonderful atmosphere staff making it a wonderful atmosphere particularly Penny and Christine. Hotel room was clean spacious and comfortable. Very good value for money. Food and drinks wonderful catering for our food intolerance without any stress Looking forward to visiting again

Very good experience, booked table about 3 weeks in advance, there was going to be 14 of us, so was asked to pre order meals. There was a couple of amendments needed to our booking before our actual visit, one of them being the day before due to illness. everything was accommodated for and excellent communication. On the day, the service was excellent, very attentive waiters. Food arrived exactly as we had pre ordered it, all of the extras and preferences we required was met. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. All in all , an excellent experience.

My fault as I keep going! Again meeting friends for late lunch drinks and again no Peroni on tap. things happen, thats life, however this is three weeks running. I asked why cant they order more, reply from staff is our cellar isn't big enough. However the bigest issue is the staff think its funny and I'm just moaning. The managment in that pub couldn't run a bath let alone a business. The cock is having a refurb at the moment , I would include replacing managment. Could somebody from Greene King Head Office please contact me

Used to be a lovely hotel a few years ago. Sadly now in need of a serious refurbishment. I know its an old coach inn and full of history but that doesn't excuse mold, filthy carpets, tatty furniture, thick dust and flaked paint everywhere. I was in Room 5 in the old building and was far from nice, panels fallingoff the bath, black mold paintedover in bathroom, grout mold, tatty furniture etc. On a plus, staff were very nice.
