Garner Hotel Wolverhampton (an IHG hotel)

Incredibly basic bring road. First room given had not been cleaned. Bed had been slept in dirty glasses. Reception helpful but not what I needed after very long journey. Parking a nightmare.

The hotel itself is clean,light & spacious in rooms with good decor & good facilities. The staff in reception were friendly but the woman needs to stop calling guests “lovely” - it’s unprofessional just say Madam. Anyway that’s not the issue.I booked a twin for 2 single guests but was given a double room for Room 1.The 2nd room had a filthy bathtub & soaking wet bathmat which should have been in the floor dry for guests to step on as they get out of bath. I was told I have to move rooms again because there were no housekeeping staff on site. It was 4:40pm. Soap dispensers were nearly empty in 2 rooms. Room 3 was fine but not an accessible room which was asked for at booking.The reception phone is not answered; I called it 8 times because I couldn’t find the hotel entrance by car. I found it eventually but had lost an hour by then made worse by the room changes. As all the staff are Eastern European, some male staff who saw me outside made snearing faces (I’m non-White) & they need to be reminded that even when speaking a native tongue, Google Translate will tell others what they said, which may be offensive. Manager offered to compensate me but did not do so. Overall I would say avoid

She was incredibly attentive, proactive with every request, and ensured our experience was flawless from start to finish. Her warm, professional welcome set the perfect tone for our trip, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Taherah the receptionist was amazing! I stayed here with a few of my friends and the service was incredible. She went to extreme lengths to make sure our stay was to an amazing standard. She was so helpful, ready to answer any questions and make sure we were comfortable. Definitely the best face to greet us as we entered! Would definitely be returning.

We have just visited this hotel after attending a music festival in Wolverhampton. We've stayed for the past six years, only due to its proximity to the venue, but based on past experiences, we weren't expecting much. However, it is now under new management and what a difference! The rooms are clean, pleasant and the beds are comfy. The reception and bar areas and much smarter and the staff couldn't be more helpful. A special shout out to Oksana, Taherah and Andy who were brilliant! We'll be back!

The hotel was very clean and well maintained, very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The rate included breakfast, there’s a good selection including cooked ,continental breakfast.

Friendly staff, lovely bright clean room and a really nice breakfast. Great value for money

Stayed here for a concert at the civic. 5 minute walk from the hotel. Lovely, clean modern hotel with easy parking. Staff were very helpful and happy and the bar and breakfast were great. Very good room rates too. Could not fault it at all and will definitely be coming back.
