The honest summary: in Melbourne, cruising happens indoors. The city has a cruise club, a cruise room on Smith Street and three gay saunas, all legal and licensed. We don't list outdoor beats. Public sex is an offence in Victoria, parks are patrolled, and directing visitors to them puts people at risk.
Indoor options
- Spartacus Lounge is a cruise club on Level 1, 20 Waratah Place, in the CBD. It has cruising areas, small private cabins and glory holes, and is open 9am to 11pm daily. It is for gay and bi men.
- LCKR ROOM at 95 Smith Street, Fitzroy, under UBQ, runs late cruise and party nights. Check its calendar first.
- Subway Sauna in the CBD is open 24/7 and has two cruise areas.
- Wet on Wellington in Collingwood has a pool, spa, steam room and a busy weekend.
- Peninsula Sauna & Spa in Seaford has a dungeon, sling rooms and nude nights.
- Bring photo ID, since the saunas scan it at the door.
- Thorne Harbour Health's PRONTO! clinic in Abbotsford does rapid HIV and STI tests. PrEP is easy to get in Australia through a GP.
- If something goes wrong, Switchboard's Rainbow Door line (1800 729 367) gives LGBTIQA+ support from 10am to 5pm daily.
Prices and hours are in the Melbourne saunas guide.
Fetish nights
The Laird in Abbotsford is the men-only bear and leather pub and hosts fetish parties. The Peel Hotel in Collingwood runs late men's club nights on weekends. Hanky, the fetish party run by the Laird's new owner, posts its dates on social media.

Closed venues
Club 80 in Collingwood, long the city's main sex club, closed around April 2020. Its old nights (Trough, NUD, Wet Sundays) are gone, so ignore older listings.
