Casa 1 is an LGBTQ+ shelter and cultural centre in Bela Vista, São Paulo. It started by housing young people who had been thrown out of home because of their sexuality or gender identity, and it has grown into one of the city's best-known queer community spaces. Alongside the residence it runs a cultural centre with a library, courses, a low-cost psychology clinic and public talks, exhibitions and parties. For visitors it is a way to meet the community outside the bars of Frei Caneca and Rua Augusta, both a short walk away. Check its social media for the events calendar. Donations of money or goods are welcome.

One of the most important places for the LGBTQIAPN+ population in São Paulo. They promote culture, a sense of community, offer courses, have a social clinic for mental health care, workshops, classes, and much more... It's much more than just a shelter. I've been following the work done at Casa1 for 6 years, and I can confidently say it only gets better.
