This little place is wonderful! The owners and staff were so pleasant and helpful during our entire stay. I would recommend this resort to anyone. The price was awesome, the rooms were very clean and they always kept fresh towels in the room. The little breakfast spread in the morning was a nice touch. I would definitely stay again.
During our nearly five-week road trip through the USA, we encountered the most welcoming and friendly hosts here. The Coral Reef Guesthouse is very cozy; you feel truly welcome and not just like a guest, but a valued guest. The pool is lovely, and the breakfast was the most sustainable of our entire trip. Finally, not everything wrapped in plastic, but simply taken from the refrigerator, served on porcelain plates, with real cups and cutlery. A real treat after 28 days of nothing but trash and plastic. Plus, fresh fruit – perfect. We would love to come back again.
Nice place. I was there for work and had to leave early in the mornings, they put a little breakfast setup with coffeemaker in my room for me
This really is a hiden peaceful gem of a place. Russel and his staff are super and friendly. The heated pool and hot tub are simply gorgeous as are the lush surroundings. If you want total peace and quiet away from the world to relax this is the place. We will definitely return
Although my stay was MANY years ago under prior management just before the current one bought it, my time there was so sitcom-caliber awful that it still haunts me. The memory of it is prompting this review. Perhaps most relevant to the current owner is that he was indifferent to making it better when I contacted him. He acknowledged that the nasty as they wanna be older guys from whom he had bought the place were monsters. I thought that a free night or discount was apt considering that liabilities run with a place. This place was not so great that I was eager to return. I mostly wanted to erase my awful memory and to not feel so cheated. Again, the still-current owner knew of how bad the place was. He is very fortunate that this was in the period before online reviews were prevalent. What has not changed is that this “beach” resort is located in a typical residential neighborhood quite a distance from the water. Further, the photos show that the rooms and the property itself still are as “meh” as always. I noted as well that the reply of the owner to negative reviews is hostile. These reviews further indicate that it is a case of new boss same as the old boss. The aforementioned mediocre everything would have warranted two stars but for the horrific service that earned negative stars. My nightmare began with having full payment rudely demanded within seconds of arriving. They had a credit card on file. The first argument arose on my requesting an additional towel for use by the pool. Like all other discussions, I felt as it I were arguing before the Supreme Court. I was staying with a friend, and there were two towels in the room. I wanted to keep my towel clean and dry for showering. At a minimum, a towel that I used by the pool would have been sopping wet for my post-swim shower. Statler and Waldorf very begrudgingly gave me a towel. Round two commenced a short while later. The hot tub was tepid. My request to turn it up was repeatedly met with the argument that it was set at a temperature that guests like. I recall losing that one. I may have gotten them to turn up the temperature by one degree, Round three occurred after I had finished my swim and showered. I was going out for a few hours and could not find my room key. I diligently looked for it and knew that it had to be somewhere in the room. I went to the office to ask to borrow another key. I promised upfront to return it by the next morning. I validly assumed that this place had enough spares to anticipate a guest losing his or her key. The Seinfeldian discourse that ensued was several rounds of we gave you a key, I temporarily cannot find my key, we will not give you another key, I promise to return the second key when I find the first one. I finally was given the second key with a sense that it unlocked a room full of valuable treasures. Of course, I found my misplaced key immediately on returning to my room after my excursion. I quickly scurried back to the office to return the borrowed one to avoid further wrath. Round four was the next morning. I conservatively estimate that I was paying the 2026 equivalent of $400/night for this not-so-great place, This was my first experience with a place that included breakfast in the room rate. The breakfast consisted of Little Debbie pastries and tiny boxes of cereal. There was one box of Rice Krispies out. My request for a second box of Rice Krispies was met with the expected result. Statler unlocked a cabinet, watched me like a hawk while I took one box (I did not dare try for more), and slammed and locked the cabinet before I even had a chance to put the box on the counter. This foiled my plan to steal their entire cereal stash.
A really great little adult-only hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The owners are wonderful, friendly people. We stayed there for four nights; a fresh breakfast is served every morning. The rooms are restocked with fresh towels and cleaned every day. We’d love to come back.
