Big Daddy's is a neighborhood gay bar on the corner of Royal and Franklin in the Faubourg Marigny. It's a classic New Orleans corner dive: dim and unfussy, with a jukebox, video poker, strong pours and a mostly local crowd. Service-industry workers come in after their shifts, and visitors drop by when they've had enough of Bourbon Street prices.
Go for conversation, not a show. Frenchmen Street's music clubs are a short walk away, and the Marigny's other gay bars are close by, so it's an easy stop on a bar crawl. It has a reputation for staying open very late, but no hours are listed here, so check before planning a 5am drink.
