This is one our all time favorite beaches however when we went yesterday we were swarmed with biting black flies. We had to pack up and leave after 20 minutes of agony. Even sprayed ourselves head to toe with bug spray-no matter. Does anyone know when this situation will end?
We visited Race Point Beach last August with our two kids (7 and 4), and it ended up being one of their favorite stops on our Cape Cod trip. The beach is huge, the sand is beautiful, and the kids loved running around and looking for shells while we watched the waves. One thing I didn’t expect was how chilly and windy it could get, even in August. The ocean breeze is no joke, so I’d definitely bring a light jacket and extra towels for the kids. The waves were also a bit stronger than some other Cape beaches, so I stayed close when they were playing near the water. The parking area was easy enough, and we liked that it didn’t feel overly crowded compared with some smaller beaches. It’s not the best choice if you’re looking for calm, shallow water for toddlers, but for a family that wants a beautiful beach with space to explore, I’d definitely recommend it!
The beach was huge no regrets and beautiful! Clean well taken care off! We saw seals swim very excited for me the first time! Peaceful listening to the waves and the people there are well behaved
This was my favorite sunset spot of the many Cape Cod beaches we visited. It's free to park here after 4:30 pm. It isn't very crowded on weekday evenings even in July.
All the beaches in this area are pretty, that is not new to say. This one is no exception. You might see seals in the surf. You have to pay to park here, a lot (25 dollars) but it does allow you to park at other beaches so use it to explore the area is my suggestion. Although you can't walk between the beaches (not quickly anyway!)
This beach was our first stop as we entered Provincetown. (Before we actually entered the town.) The beach is HUGE, and apparently very popular, as there were many people there. The sand is nice. The scenery is fantastic. The path from the parking lot to the beach is a bit of a walk, but covered with that rollup walkway material that makes walking over sand a breeze. I wish we would have had more time here, as it looked like an amazing place to spend a few hours.
Race Point is a must see for Cape Cod beaches. It can have rough wave action, so please pay attention to your children! My little cousins were delighted running with the surf. The seal activity added to the experience. When your sitting on the beach and you look all around, you'll notice zero hotels and clutter of development. You should feel happy that it was saved for the public to enjoy as a National Park!
One of the popular places to go for sunset. Easy access and lots of people without getting crowded (laaarge beach). Recommended
Peaceful place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of commercial Street . Beautiful sand dunes and greenery along the way.
We went there to experience the sunset. It was beautiful. We also were able to see dozens of seal! Amazing! Swimming twenty feet off the shore.
Really nice area
Race Point Beach, Race Point Beach, is one of the most spectacular beaches within the Cape Cod National Seashore. Located at the northern tip of Cape Cod, it is known for its expansive sandy shoreline, rolling dunes, powerful Atlantic surf, and panoramic views. The beach is a favorite destination for nature lovers, photographers, anglers, and birdwatchers. In spring, migrating whales are often visible from shore, while the historic Race Point Lighthouse and Old Harbor Life-Saving Station add to the area's rich maritime heritage. Race Point is renowned as one of New England's premier birding locations. Spring (March–May) brings migrating loons, grebes, sea ducks, shorebirds, terns, and songbirds. Summer (June–August) features nesting Piping Plovers, Least Terns, and abundant gulls, with offshore shearwaters and other seabirds. Autumn (September–November) is the peak migration season, offering excellent opportunities to observe Northern Gannets, jaegers, alcids, scoters, loons, and thousands of passing seabirds. Winter (December–February) attracts Common and King Eiders, Long-tailed Ducks, scoters, Purple Sandpipers, Snow Buntings, and occasional rare Arctic visitors. The beach provides outstanding birding throughout the year. Perhaps Race Point's most celebrated feature is its sunsets. Because the shoreline curves toward the northwest, it is one of the few Atlantic-facing beaches on the U.S. East Coast where the sun sets directly over the water. As evening approaches, the sky often glows with brilliant shades of gold, orange, pink, and crimson, silhouetting the dunes and Race Point Lighthouse. These unforgettable sunsets, combined with the calls of seabirds and the sound of crashing surf, make Race Point Beach one of Cape Cod's most memorable natural destinations.
This beach is one of the most amazing places in the world. I spent my childhood summers here, and the other night I saw at least 100 seals. The saddest part was that one got pulled under (possibly by a shark) and then floated by us...
Love it there.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset as well as spend a day….easy to park as well with nearby restrooms.
Northernmost beach on Cape Cod. Very large waves on windy days.
My favs
Race Point Beach is absolutely beautiful and was one of our favorite places in Provincetown. It's easy to get to by either car or bike. We biked there several times during our trip and loved spending the day at the beach. One of the highlights was watching seals swimming just offshore. The beach also has convenient amenities, including restrooms, changing areas, and a place to refill water bottles. We noticed some flies on our last visit, but they weren't much of an issue near the water with the steady ocean breeze.
Beautiful beach. Big parking lot, seasonal walking mats down to the sand. Seals, changing areas, bathrooms.
Lots of seals.
Really cool beach the seals are really cute
Race Point Beach is absolutely beautiful! The soft white sand and crystal-clear water make it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. One of the highlights of my visit was seeing so many gray seals in their natural habitat, which made the experience even more special. The beach also offers plenty of parking and clean restrooms, making it convenient for visitors. If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic beach with incredible wildlife, I highly recommend Race Point Beach. I can't wait to visit again!
Hark! My passage unto Race Point Beach was a most radiant delight, as though nature herself had composed a grand sonnet upon the shore. The sands did stretch wide and pure, and the Atlantic did roar with noble majesty, both fierce and soothing in equal measure. The wind didst carry a bracing freshness that awakened the spirit, whilst the sunsets did paint the heavens in gold and crimson hues most wondrous to behold. I did wander in peace, free of worldly care, and found the place most worthy of praise and remembrance. Verily, it is a sanctuary where land and sea embrace in timeless beauty. Five stars, and a heart made lighter for having trod its shore. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Beautiful beach with stunning Atlantic views. The beach is clean and well-maintained, with protected nesting areas for birds that lay their eggs in the sand. The seemingly endless view of the Atlantic Ocean is breathtaking, and the water is clear and inviting. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a few seals in the distance. One thing to be prepared for is the flies—they can be quite aggressive and their bites can be painful. However, the spectacular scenery more than makes up for it. The slightly elevated shoreline offers gorgeous views of the water, making it a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy nature.
Really scenic national park. Google didn't explain very well this is a national park. So glad we swung in and checked it out!
