The Strand Hotel

Clean, cosy & well appointed rooms. Decorated so tastefully. The library room and tea station were such a bonus. Beautiful French teas and a room full of cosy chairs and books! The rooftop bar is stunning and the pub downstairs homely, vibey and delicious food! Will most definitely be returning! The staff were also so helpful and lovely.

Unprofessional and Extremely Rude Staff I contacted the hotel staff to enquire about extending my stay and was shocked by the way I was treated by the female staff member in charge. During the conversation, she appeared to have mistaken me for another guest and spoke to me in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Even after it became clear that a mistake had been made, there was no apology or acknowledgement of the misunderstanding. Instead, the dismissive and hostile attitude continued throughout the interaction. As a paying guest who had done nothing wrong, I found this treatment completely unacceptable. I have never experienced such disrespectful and unprofessional treatment. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed my entire experience. If respectful and professional customer service is important to you, I would recommend considering other accommodation options. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the standards of conduct expected from staff.

Ten dollar Guinness all day every day. What else can I say, outstanding. Cool front bar too, nice atmosphere at night.

I’ve stayed at The Strand twice now and absolutely love it! It definitely won’t be my last stay! The beds are incredibly comfortable and, even though I’ve only stayed in an internal room, it was wonderfully quiet and perfect for a great night’s sleep. The location is fantastic, the staff are genuinely lovely and there is something to enjoy from morning to night without even leaving the hotel. The food menus in both the public bar and on the rooftop look excellent, and the $10 Guinness pints every day are a brilliant bonus. The rooftop is such a great spot for drinks, food and views across the city. What really sets The Strand apart is the attention to detail. The artwork, interiors and overall vibe are so beautifully considered. I also love the added extras, including the Hidden Library and vinyl listening room. They give the hotel so much personality and make a stay feel genuinely special. A huge shout-out to Luke and Luna, who both went above and beyond and made my stay even better. Fantastic people and exceptional service. Such a great boutique hotel in the heart of Darlinghurst. Stylish, comfortable, welcoming and full of character. I’ll absolutely be back! ✦

Good Guinness

We booked the rooftop bar for a birthday and it was fabulous. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and polite. We were super grateful they let us have cake and even provided plates and cutlery - much appreciated! The food was delicious and incredibly well priced. The rooftop is a great , cozy vibe even in winter with huge couches and heaters. Thankyou for proving such a lovely evening.

Miguel is always the best host. Best Guinness price in town, best Guinness service in town, rain hail or shine on time and sublime. 5 stars.

A Late-Night Beacon for the Weary Off the plane, into the CBD I go — the hour already late, most doors already shut, and my road-worn body aching for a spirit to set it right. This pub alone was my salvation. Great location, easy to order, kind on the wallet, and the beer — genuinely good. If I'm ever back in Sydney and staying nearby, I'll be walking through that door again.
