If you are in Osaka and want to spoil yourself with a very special experience, then Hajime is the place to go. I came as an early birthday present to myself and wow oh wow! The service was amazing, all the waiters are lovely and explain everything perfectly. The atmosphere is extremely satisfying, dim mood lighting that feels very fine dining. The food was absolutely incredible. I genuinely was speechless, every dish so carefully crafted, so much attention to detail you can really tell the owner has a lot of love and passion for what he does. Makes sense since this is a 3 Michelin star restaurant!!! You must get the wine pairings as well, I got the half size portions because I’m not a big drinker, the 30ml option is perfect just to see the taste combinations with food and beverage. Truly outstanding, worth every cent. Thank you for making my experience so special, definitely once in a lifetime.
The dishes look beautiful. They're photogenic, and of course, they taste delicious. However, it's unclear whether they're aiming for entertainment or a calm atmosphere. If it's supposed to be entertainment, there's nothing to see or hear between courses; there are no entertaining transitions like those found in "Petit Chef." If they paid attention to details like lighting and music that matched the dishes, at the very least, a small fountain, a fireplace, or fresh flowers on each table would make a big difference. The entire experience, from seating to paying the bill, takes four hours. Unless you're confident you can maintain a conversation for four hours with your companion, it would be painful. If they're aiming for a calm atmosphere, the tables are too close together, making it impossible to hear the explanations of the dishes or the customers' conversations—it's as noisy as a pub, which is painful. Since it's nearby, they should at least let you visit La Paix. There's no carpet, so the sound echoes, and you can hear the busy voices from the kitchen and the sounds of cooking equipment. After grappling with this elusive atmosphere for over three hours, you encounter the ultimate contradiction with dessert. The dessert included a handwritten letter from the chef expressing concern about the weakening of human relationships, yet the chef himself showed a complete lack of connection with the customers, not even appearing to greet them. What are we supposed to feel when he himself maintains such a weak relationship with his customers? The food on the plate is beautiful. I wish I could see beyond the plate. I've never seen a restaurant where even the Cutipol spoons are so scratched up, let alone the interior. This is clearly not a place where you should be paying 100,000 yen per person plus drinks.
We had the pleasure of dining with Hajime during our trip to Osaka. It was an unbelievable experience. Expensive, yes, but a meal that we will remember for for the rest of our lives. Other Michelin restaurants (including three stars) have tried a few very creative, jaw dropping dishes, but usually there is a miss or two. At Hajime everything was so creative, inspired, and delicious. I've also never been so impressed with a non-alcoholic drink pairing - each drink was unique, and truly enhanced the accompanied dish. The meal followed a narrative and theme, and despite being more than full, I found myself disappointed that it had ended. My wife and I went for a special occasion, and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience amazing (including by giving my wife flowers at the end of the night to mark the occasion). Thank you Minoru and the rest of the team for a fantastic night. We will be visiting again if we find ourselves in Osaka.
219th 🌟🌟🌟. A fusion of French culinary techniques and Japanese aesthetics, themed around planetary art. The signature dish, "Earth," brings together hundreds of fruits, vegetables, and seafood to showcase the natural ecosystem. The decor features a low-key, sophisticated gallery style. The plating is dreamlike, a culinary feast that feels like a dialogue with the Earth.
We had an amazing dinner at Hajime. The flavours were interesting and well put together. Every dish was unique, intricate, and thoughtfully crafted. The presentation and story throughout was creative and coherent. Service by Minuro and the team made us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout, conversations were light and not overbearing and excessive. The non-alcoholic pairings by Akira were interesting and complemented the dishes well. All in all, we had a memorable evening, one of the best meals we've had!
