Grand Hôtel de Flandre

A huge thank you to Steeve for his warm welcome, impeccable service, and good humor. Thank you also for our conversations ☺️ The hotel is currently being renovated, so there's no elevator. The 3rd floor is accessible via a steep service staircase, but the soundproofing is excellent (room with a view of the train station). The hallways are a bit dated, but the renovation is underway. The room was well-equipped and met our expectations. The bathroom was functional. Our room was made up even though we hadn't requested it (a testament to their professionalism). We had to leave the hotel earlier than planned for personal reasons, but we don't regret our stay. Plan ahead for parking.

Be aware that this hotel is undergoing renovations, and they don't tell you this until three days before your arrival when they inform you that the elevator is out of service and that your room is on the second floor. When you unfortunately have health problems and can't climb more than one flight of stairs, this poses a problem... but there are no solutions offered.

We had a fantastic stay! Superbly located in the city center, close to all amenities! Spacious, well-equipped rooms with incredibly comfortable beds. The staff was very friendly and always available. The only downside: no parking, and the soundproofing of the room doors wasn't sufficient; we could hear everything and were woken up several times... The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so hopefully this will be included in future improvements.

Upon arrival, there was no parking space; we had to find our own. In the room, there was a razor head in the bathtub, a pair of socks, a dirty undershirt, and dirty underwear in the wardrobe, and a dirty mini-fridge. The roommate had a dog that barked at the slightest noise. All of this at once is unacceptable. Our comments made verbally were ignored by management; we were only passing through and had no intention of returning, even after the ongoing renovations.

Construction work starting early in the morning. Dust and smell. Techno music until late at night. Despite what the staff said, I was only informed after I had paid for my reservation.

The only positive point about this establishment is its location, right across from Namur train station. However, the rooms are cramped and the cleanliness is clearly inadequate. The most shocking aspect, however, was the check-in experience: although the reservation was paid for online through Booking.com, I was required to pay the full amount of the stay again upon arrival. An elderly, particularly unpleasant employee forced me to make this second payment, claiming that without it, I wouldn't be given a room. I therefore had to pay twice and file a complaint with Booking.com myself, which is unacceptable. It is unacceptable that the burden of the establishment's errors systematically falls on the customer. Beyond the lack of courtesy, this situation demonstrates a serious lack of professionalism and competence.

Great, I spent one night there and everything went well, totally acceptable for the price. I had a little trouble booking the room online, the prices weren't accurate, but otherwise a superb experience.

The cleanliness is appalling: dirty cups, lint in the wardrobe, marks on the TV and bedside table, ink stains on the pillows, and disrespectful staff in the hallway who were making an unbearable amount of noise and sitting on a chair, waiting for what? 🤬 Then, when you go to reception, they either change your room or change your tray. For such incompetent staff! 🤬 This is something to take up with their staff, not the customer. Everything should be impeccable in a hotel. Luckily, I was alone; I would have been so ashamed.
