What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the hotel's excellent central location directly opposite the train station and find the rooms clean, comfortable, and well-equipped for the price. However, a significant number of guests have complained about undisclosed renovations, particularly the lack of elevator access to higher floors which caused considerable difficulty for some.

About this place Grand Hôtel de Flandre

Grand Hôtel de Flandre is a simple hotel on Place de la Station, directly across from Namur's railway station. It is a mainstream hotel, gay-friendly but not a gay venue, with plain rooms, free Wi-Fi and a bar. The station location is the main advantage: Brussels and Luxembourg trains are right there, and the old town and the climb to the Citadel are a short walk. Reviews are mixed (about 3.7), so expect functional rooms; the square outside can be noisy at night.

Extremely poor hotel which is currently undergoing construction. Hot, noisy rooms, cleaners come in at 08.00. Left a day early as needed quiet and rest for a work trip and was refused a refund for night I didnt stay.

Staying for one night, we arrived in our room to find it between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. When I mentioned it at reception, the hostess told me she was aware of the issue but couldn't do anything about it, as it was due to ongoing construction. (The elevator was also out of order because of the construction.) The reception area was almost cold... I asked for a gesture of goodwill from the staff that evening and the following morning, who told me to send an email. I did... no response. Furthermore, the pastries at breakfast were more like mass-produced (like Pasquier brioche) than good bakery rolls. Of course, I don't recommend this hotel, but everyone is free to form their own opinion.

They promise air conditioning, but there isn't any! The amount is debited twice, very strange. And the bathroom had yellow grout, not very fresh. It was extremely hot on the 4th floor. We received an email stating that the elevator wouldn't be working and offering the option to cancel; nice, we thought. But they conveniently omit the fact that the air conditioning doesn't work when it's 30 degrees outside. This hotel is not reliable.

ABSOLUTELY AVOID!!!! OUTRAGEOUS !!! Room on the 4th floor with no elevator, and my pregnant wife had to carry four suitcases upstairs!!! OUTRAGEOUS! Room without air conditioning!!! Curtains left open!!!!! We politely asked at reception, and they told us if everything was working properly and if it was broken!!!! OUTRAGEOUS! No discount, not even a single bottle of water offered for the inconvenience! AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID

Pleasant hotel, friendly receptionists day and night. Generous breakfast, clean and well-appointed room. No issues with the ongoing construction. I parked in the town hall parking lot, a 5-minute walk away.

Don't be put off by the renovations and the location. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. And contrary to what you might expect given its location, it's very quiet at night, and the double-glazed windows make a real difference. They're renovating for the better, and it's great that they're still providing good service.
