When I first arrived, I needed help. The staff was very kind and helped me store my suitcase temporarily and send it to Berlin later. I had just arrived and wanted to rest. They allowed me to relax in the lobby for two hours before my exam. When I returned, they helped me book a room. I also received breakfast and was allowed to use a study space free of charge. I still can't forget it! ❣️

Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience here. The hotel is located in a dodgy area where, especially as a woman traveling alone, you don't feel safe. During check-in, the staff member emphasized to a group ahead of me that solo female travelers should avoid booking rooms in the buildings across the street (the hotel consists of two buildings opposite each other). When I was then given a room on that side, I initially thought he was joking. However, after asking more questions, it turned out that there really is a safety issue for women, as many addicts and drug dealers apparently hang out there, and incidents frequently occur in front of the hotel. The hotel employee explained that the rooms on that side are not normally assigned for security reasons, but they were open because of the trade fair. He repeatedly emphasized that I shouldn't leave the hotel after 10 p.m. Since I was completely uneasy and felt very uncomfortable, I was allowed to move my room to the "safer" side. The employee then reiterated that another solo female traveler would now have to take the fall. He made absolutely no effort to alleviate my unease; quite the opposite. I don't understand how someone can make such a statement to a group and then, in the same breath, give a room like that to another woman who was clearly alone. The hotel corridors are dingy, the room doors don't inspire confidence, and it's very noisy because there are always people loitering outside. I hardly slept at all that night and left the hotel a day earlier than planned the next morning. It was a very unpleasant and expensive experience because I had to book another hotel at short notice. But at that moment, I didn't care because I just wanted to get away.
