Piccadilly Bar

I've been staying in Hamburg for most of the past year. I thought I knew all of the best queer spaces, but I was wrong. Some friends came into town from Berlin and I stumbled across Piccadilly on Google search while trying to locate the closest queer -friendly bar. What a wonderful surprise! The decor is kitchsy and wonderful, the atmosphere is a vibe, so chill and delightful. The bartender (who I think is the owner as well) was absolutely charming and stellar. He made fabulous cocktails. And he made us all laugh. This is the kind of place when you want to get away from the crazy crowds in Reeperbahn. It's just around the corner from all the excitement and bright lights, but sort of tucked away in a safe and quiet spot. It's the kind of bar you could spend all night in, where time just slips away and everything is right again in the world. The only drawback about the bar is smoking is allowed inside. That's it. Everything else is absolutely fantastic. If I lived in the St Pauli and I smoked, it would be my favorite hangout spot. Trans friendly. Queer friendly. Safe, accepting. And lots of fun. If you are LGBTQIA and you don't visit this bar while in Hamburg, then you have missed out on a real gem.

I've always wanted to go and only managed to make it last week. I've been twice now and felt right at home each time. It's a really cozy, queer smoking bar with lovely old-world charm and a totally relaxed atmosphere. Exactly the right place to just drop in and stay. The clientele is pleasant, the vibe is laid-back, and the people behind the bar are truly wonderful—super warm, attentive, and simply authentic. For me, the Piccadilly Bar has definitely become a favorite spot in St. Pauli. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

A quaint pub with a penchant for drama that leaves nothing to be desired.

Couldn't even walk 5 steps into the establishment. The amount of smoke was suffocation and made me begin to start gagging.

Uwe is a very nice and friendly host and it's always fun to be there.
