Herbert is a fantastic host, and I've been happily returning to his place for 24 years. See you again soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 😉 I just realized I can add a bit more here. I visited the Piccadilly gay bar again on September 20, 2025, and was thrilled. Some of my guests left before even entering the bar. Not because the bar was bad, but rather because it was getting late. We had dinner and a cocktail bar beforehand. We received a warm welcome, even though the owner didn't know we were there for my birthday. I had seven other guests with me, so there were eight of us in total. We found seats near the entrance, were allowed to request music, and danced, sang, laughed, and drank. The service was excellent, and when I paid at the end, I wasn't surprised at all that the bill was really quite reasonable. You get a lot for very little money here. Please stay open for a long time to come! Greetings to Herbert, Olaf, and the rest of the team 👋 And belatedly, 5 stars in all categories ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. What did I spend per person? 20 to 30 euros, which isn't much considering everything we drank: short drinks, long drinks, coffee, sparkling wine, cocktails, and there were free snacks too.

I've been staying in Hamburg for most of the past year. I thought I knew all of the best queer spaces, but I was wrong. Some friends came into town from Berlin and I stumbled across Piccadilly on Google search while trying to locate the closest queer -friendly bar. What a wonderful surprise! The decor is kitchsy and wonderful, the atmosphere is a vibe, so chill and delightful. The bartender (who I think is the owner as well) was absolutely charming and stellar. He made fabulous cocktails. And he made us all laugh. This is the kind of place when you want to get away from the crazy crowds in Reeperbahn. It's just around the corner from all the excitement and bright lights, but sort of tucked away in a safe and quiet spot. It's the kind of bar you could spend all night in, where time just slips away and everything is right again in the world. The only drawback about the bar is smoking is allowed inside. That's it. Everything else is absolutely fantastic. If I lived in the St Pauli and I smoked, it would be my favorite hangout spot. Trans friendly. Queer friendly. Safe, accepting. And lots of fun. If you are LGBTQIA and you don't visit this bar while in Hamburg, then you have missed out on a real gem.

I've always wanted to go and only managed to make it last week. I've been twice now and felt right at home each time. It's a really cozy, queer smoking bar with lovely old-world charm and a totally relaxed atmosphere. Exactly the right place to just drop in and stay. The clientele is pleasant, the vibe is laid-back, and the people behind the bar are truly wonderful—super warm, attentive, and simply authentic. For me, the Piccadilly Bar has definitely become a favorite spot in St. Pauli. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
