What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the relaxed and cozy atmosphere, often noting it as a great place for an evening out. However, a common complaint is that the venue is still a smoking establishment, which some find unpleasant and difficult to breathe in. Some also mention that the club can be unexpectedly empty and the audience less engaged than anticipated.

About this place Toms Saloon

Tom's Saloon is a legendary fixture in Hamburg's LGBTQ+ nightlife, located in the heart of the St Georg gay district. Operating since 1974, this basement venue has established itself as one of the city's most enduring and historically significant gay bars. The space is known for its leather and fetish scene, attracting visitors interested in that particular culture and community. The venue is distinguished by its impressive collection of Tom of Finland artwork, which lines the walls and contributes to its distinctive character and atmosphere. As a cruise bar with a leather-focused identity, it draws a specific crowd looking for that particular vibe. While the energy and attendance may vary depending on the night and season—as is true for many established bars—the venue maintains its cultural significance within Hamburg's gay scene and remains a landmark for those seeking this particular style of venue. Located at 17 Pulverteich in the St Georg neighbourhood, Tom's Saloon is accessible and well-positioned within the city's LGBTQ+ district. For the most current information about opening hours, special events, or specific details about what to expect on any given night, visitors are encouraged to check the venue's website at https://toms-hamburg.de. Whether you're a first-time visitor to Hamburg or a returning guest, this historic bar offers insight into the city's long-standing gay culture and leather community.

A fantastic place, clean and with a very relaxed and laid-back atmosphere. If you're looking for a nice evening out, perhaps with a little something extra, this is the place to be.

It's become nice after the renovation. It's just that the audience isn't really getting going.

Unfortunately, it's still a smoking establishment. I hope they change that soon 🐥

A well-known club in Hamburg. On the day and at the time we were there (9 pm), it was quite empty. The music selection was erratic, ranging from German pop to house to pop. A wild mix. 50% of the club is a smoking area. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They regularly patrol the premises, so the club was clean and tidy. The darker corners were well-organized and clean. The crowd was very mixed. We'll be back for a themed night.
