Unfortunately, the hotel falls far short of IHG standards… The building is located directly on Steindamm, surrounded by a rather questionable clientele. Even the receptionist reported feeling uneasy sometimes when leaving the hotel, noting the large number of homeless people in the vicinity. Apparently, a large number of guests from Ukraine are currently being accommodated there. Overnight, security is required, and the hotel doors must be locked. Unfortunately, an unauthorized charge was made to the guest's credit card, which was not authorized and was not intended for payment of the stay. The underground parking garage is difficult to access, and the entrance is extremely narrow, even for a standard-sized vehicle.

I had a very nice and clean room. Very centrally located, within walking distance of the main train station. Everyone should be aware of what that means for the neighborhood, including the fact that Steindamm can be noisy at night, especially since the police station is practically next door. I had a room facing the street, but I slept with the window open using earplugs. I had a fan in the room for the warmer weather, as there's no air conditioning (it was fine up to 27 degrees Celsius). The underground parking garage is narrow, so you should be aware of that beforehand and consider it; otherwise, there are public parking garages within walking distance. It's no problem with a Golf, though. The staff were all incredibly kind and friendly, and very helpful, even though check-in was a bit hectic. All in all, I'm happy – absolutely top-notch for a hotel of this category. Thank you!

You need to know what kind of area the hotel is in! It's a multicultural area that isn't for everyone. The hotel is clean, the rooms are clean and modern. Breakfast is adequate, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The city of Hamburg has reserved three floors for asylum seekers, so the clientele is predominantly multilingual. But everything is very well organized. The reception staff were incredibly helpful; I wanted to know which mattresses were in the room and received an immediate answer... I've rarely slept so well in a bed. A big thank you also to Sandy at reception, who was so warm and welcoming. Thanks, The Niu... I'd gladly stay again!

I spent three days there with my girlfriend over Pentecost weekend, and it was absolutely wonderful. What we loved most was the service! Sandy and the amazing hotel manager were especially fantastic! They were both so incredibly kind and made our stay a fun and unforgettable experience! <3
