Axel Beach Crete

We stayed at the Axel Beach for a week with half-board and a room with a private pool. The room was spotlessly clean, beautiful, and well-maintained! If I had any complaints, it would only be that there was no shower gel (we never bring our own because hotels usually provide it), but it wasn't a big deal. We bought some. The housekeeping service came twice a day. The pool was also cleaned daily. The room was cleaned daily as well. The only downside at the moment (which the hotel can't help): a road is being built above the hotel, so there's been some noise from 8 am onwards. Since we arrived very late, they brought us a snack to our room, which I thought was very nice. Breakfast and dinner were served on the rooftop terrace with a wonderful view. Breakfast was adequate. Personally, we found it a bit monotonous, but the food tasted good. Dinner changed regularly, and there was a small but excellent selection, so everyone could find something they liked. The drink prices were also reasonable (soft drinks €4). If you haven't booked half-board or still want to eat out, there are several good tavernas within walking distance. I highly recommend renting a car for this hotel! The hotel's own parking spaces are useless unless you have an SUV. But you can always find a spot on the street. The only odd thing was that we had to settle our outstanding bill the day before departure. On the day of departure itself, however, we had to wait another 10 minutes because they first had to... They checked the minibar. They didn't trust us when we said we hadn't taken anything else. All in all, I would come back.

Staying on half-board at this hotel, it's the first time in all my travels (and I've traveled a lot) that you have to pay for drinks with dinner... not a glass of water, nothing! You eat dry 🤣🤣 or you pay... luckily the food is good...

My mother and I stayed at this hotel for a week. The staff were warm and friendly. The room was lovely with incredibly comfortable bedding. Breakfast was plentiful, with both sweet and savory options. Dinners were varied and delicious. We highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful week at this hotel 😊. The entire team (reception, restaurant, housekeeping) was lovely, always smiling and offering a kind word. The hotel is peaceful and secluded, away from the crowds and noise, perched on the hills above Hersonissos. The Wi-Fi was excellent, and the room was clean and comfortable (with a small terrace that got plenty of sun in the evenings). The restaurant had a stunning view (magnificent sunsets in the evening). The evening menus were very good, and the breakfast buffet was superb. In short, a wonderful romantic getaway 🤗💕. Thank you to the whole team.

This review is primarily for Stavros. He's such a lovely and friendly employee. I've rarely experienced such excellent service as Stavros provided. He entertains people with his funny and friendly manner and is always helpful, trying to fulfill every wish. Of course, the hotel itself is also fantastic. The rooms are very nice, and the entire property is lovely. Highly recommended!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 Loved my stay at Axel Beach Crete! Super friendly, helpful staff created a warm, family vibe even when quiet. Sky Bar crew was top-notch too. Pro tip: It's 4km from the beach – rent a car or taxi (€10). Perfect relaxed spot for everyone, not just LGBTQ+ folks! Highly recommend.
