Axel Beach Crete
Visitors frequently praise the friendly and attentive staff, modern and clean rooms, and excellent food with great views, especially from the Sky Bar. However, some guests noted that certain restaurant staff lacked experience and that drinks are not included with half-board meals, which was a common point of dissatisfaction.

The staff was mostly friendly. Housekeeping did a good job. However, some of the restaurant staff lacked experience, and the team still needs to gel. The rooftop terrace and restaurant offered a beautiful view of the sea and the sunset. The bed was too soft, and an emergency light stayed on in the room all night. The bathroom fixtures were in poor condition. There were too few sun umbrellas by the pool. Drinks at the bar/restaurant were overpriced and of poor quality (e.g., the cocktails). However, there are good alternatives in the village. Some drinks were unavailable for the entire duration of our stay. Dinner offered few classic Greek hot dishes such as gyros, souvlaki, and pita. Breakfast offered a very limited selection of coffees (plus instant coffee) and only sweetened juices. It's about a 30-minute walk to the bus stop and 45-60 minutes to the beach. Therefore, a car is advisable.
The hotel is located a little off the beaten path, so the surroundings are very quiet. The staff was very attentive, and the food was excellent. I had a very pleasant stay.
We will be back! Having stayed at several Axel properties in the past; this one exceeded all expectations and was the most luxurious of them all. The room was pristine, well kept, large and quite gorgeous, the food and views at Skybar were great and best of all was the service. Fillipa in particular was an absolute delight and made our departure memorable. The only regret was how short our stay was. We will definitely come back. For those who may be used to the old Axel brand: a little darker, spicier and edgier - while it is now a little more sophisticated and grown up, the spirit of inclusion and freedom to be yourself remains. We’re now more fans of this brand than ever before.
New hotel, nice rooms, nice pool
What a beautiful hotel with such stunning views over the surrounding countryside, sitting in the hot tub watching the sunset is a must! very friendly staff, modern clean rooms.
