Hotel Falésia

The hotel's appeal lies in its beautiful gardens, pleasant pool, and the lovely nearby coastline. The rooms are clean but basic and dated. Balcony furniture is very spartan. Breakfast is good, but the evening buffet is not. The reception is unfriendly and has a drill-sergeant tone; you have to commit to a specific time in the morning, the food is rarely varied, and it's mostly canteen-quality. Two-thirds of the staff are untrained and overwhelmed. As a German guest, who now make up at least half of the hotel's clientele, I would find it more respectful if at least a simple "Good morning" or "Enjoy your meal" were possible. Furthermore, information provided at reception, including explanations of the food and the menu, is only available in English and Portuguese. This is not very hospitable. All in all, it's no longer a 4-star hotel.

Very quiet and the staff are attentive and friendly.

Extremely disappointed. This was our fourth and final stay at this hotel. We came for the fourth time this year in April and were extremely disappointed. All the teams have changed (except for the housekeeping staff), and they've recruited people who aren't necessarily competent. The staff is new and sometimes untrained. We had to wait for a drinks order for dinner that never arrived. The bar, reception, and dinner staff aren't very friendly. There are sometimes insufficient staff for the number of guests, which wasn't even that high in April. Our cocktails at the bar were botched several times before being thrown away and remade. The kitchen staff has also changed, and the food has declined in quality and variety. The Saturday night themed dinners are no longer offered. shocked us most was the new way they handle tips. If you don't check every receipt, there's a 10% surcharge on all your extras for tips. If you don't read the receipt and don't say at the time of payment that you don't agree with the system, you'll be charged without necessarily realizing it; we only realized this on the third day. We came four times; the first three times were really very good, but unfortunately, we are very disappointed with this new business and customer service policy, and we won't be back.

The coffee bar in the room is rarely cleaned and restocked; milk or coffee capsules are regularly missing However, the lighting concept is great, with many lamps, including indirect, cozy lighting. The very high-quality, thick towels and bathrobes are also great; bathrobes should be standard in any upscale hotel. Very limited selection at the evening buffet and only a small selection of meats and desserts, but they are excellently prepared. The air conditioning doesn't work properly, it's loud, and it barely cools at all. Plates aren't cleared very quickly at breakfast. On the plus side, it's the most comfortable hotel bed in the world. The gym is small, with a maximum capacity of 4 people, definitely too few for the size of the hotel. The location is generally central, but you need a shuttle to get to the beach (it runs twice a day), so you'll need a rental car or have good legs for a 20-minute walk each way. Going uphill and downhill is difficult. The room isn't cleaned, only the beds are made and, at best, the towels are changed. The coffee at breakfast is disgusting; it tastes like pool water. More clothes racks on the balcony would be useful, especially for wet swimwear. Drinks are outrageously expensive overall. There's mold in the stairwell. For a week, one of the two elevators was out of order, so there was only one working elevator for four floors. Despite all this, everyone is very courteous and tries their best to make the stay pleasant and to rectify minor issues promptly. Due to the many rules, it's really quiet and truly only suitable for older people or those who really want to switch off. No pool entertainment, no animation program—wonderfully relaxing.

Having just returned from a very relaxing week at Falesia Hotel we cannot understand those negative reviews both online and in person at the hotel from those on repeat visits. Obviously we had no comparison but we found the hotel exceptional. Although we understand they continue to struggle to get a lift repaired following numerous engineers visits. Fortunately bo issue for us even being on 4th floor! Our room was spacious, clean and modern with a large comfortable bed, small seating area, balcony and a TV with lots of channels including UK! The core hotel facilities were perfect for a chilled holiday. Plenty of sunloungers around the pool and gardens with or without shade. The pool was gradually sloped for those just wanting to dip the legs in. The grounds had lots of space to get away from everyone with chilled sunken seating , fire pit, arbour seating and water features all within well kept gardens. There was a pool bar for teatime happy hour cocktails and beers and main bar, a spacious dining hall and wellness facilities. We used the gym twice during our stay with enough equipment for either a cardio or weights session. I also did the yoga on Wednesday morning and Saturday teatime, although think the times need to be reviewed as 9.30 was a late start to then get to breakfast and 5.30pm was too hot and limited shade. My partner also had a massage that he said was very good! Breakfast had everything you could wish for....cooked options, cereals, yogurts, breads and pastries, salads, cheeses, meats, pancakes, fruits, lovely pot of chai yogurts, nuts and seeds and an egg station for omelette and fried eggs! Seating areas inside and out. We had B&B so went out locally for evening meals as there are quite a few restaurants within an easy walk. Returning to listen to the lounge music entertainment with a drink, chat and play cards. We also took the courtesy bus down to the beach where we hired sunbeds and were picked up again at 4pm. The beach is also walkable and 2 morning we had a pre breakfast walk along the beach. This hotel is clean, modern, chilled, friendly and very quiet....exactly what we liked about it! No loud music, no drunken stupidity - highly recommend and we will definitely revisit.

We have stayed at The Falesia this was our 5th time and it has changed hands , food quality was not has good as it used to be, bar staff were quite rude some of the beers were quite stale, shame the pool was dirty when we arrived, was glad Eugenio was still there with his exceptional help and lovely to see Carolina still in resraurant we feel the hotel standard has dropped dramatically.

Just arrived from holiday at the Falesia what on earth has gone wrong with what was a beautiful hotel. As a repeat guest all the wonderful staff have left. Was told i could not eat until 8pm far too late, got it changed to 6,30pm, More like a second rate Canteen, no table cloths, napkins, wine glasses etc. 10% charge on all drinks. Disgusting quality food, pigs cheeks, what looks like cows hooves, hardly any fresh veg unless you like courgettes. Food cold. Soup like dish water. Breakfast again, not the best quality. Rooms now give you 6 hangers, 2 tea bags, 2 coffee sachets, 2 small milk and a bottle of water plus welcome red wine, which is disgusting. 10% charge on water, wine, coffee etc. No atmosphere, lots of complaints which are not taken seriously. Lift not working for three days, then broke again. Never see the new Manager, i think he goes into hiding because of all the complaints. Will no longer holiday at this hotel it has lost is lovely atmosphere and soul. Decided to have meals out as just could not face the awful food. This is not what i anticipated when i booked my holiday. Along with a large number of repeat and new guests will not be returning. To the new manager please get the Falesia back to how it was and take the complaints seriously.
