I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. I booked a family room for three days, but the stay was far from comfortable. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and caused me severe back pain throughout my stay. The room itself was very small and felt cramped, especially with children. The toilet door wouldn’t close , and the bathroom was very dirty. Basic amenities like shampoo or toiletries were not provided at all, which was quite surprising and inconvenient. The room had a strong, unpleasant smell, and there was visible mould in several areas. Initially, we were given a room on the third floor, which was very difficult to access with children. Later the next day, we were moved to an underground floor, which turned out to be even worse — no proper air circulation, a very claustrophobic feeling, and again a toilet door that didn’t close. The staff were very impolite and unhelpful. Whenever we raised concerns, their response was simply that this is all they could offer, with no effort to resolve any issues. Overall, this was a very bad experience, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked this through Booking.com, and it definitely did not meet expectations.

Check in was simple, receptionist was very helpful-just a shame the sat nav took us to the wrong side of the billiards as we then had to go all the way back round once got directions to the car park. The room was huge, very spacious, door opened into a small lobby, with bedroom to one side and en suite at the other. The shower is amazing! Overall the room was brilliant and clean which is the main thing. The breakfast was soooo good! Freshly made cooked breakfast, huge selection of drinks and continental items. Server was really attentive and polite. Check in and check out times are ideal not feeling rushed out and able to arrive earlier than most places. Location is in such a nice area, near the botanic gardens. We walked down to the ovo, stopped for dinner and some drinks on the way and got a taxi back. Was £12 in taxi back from ovo hydro to hotel. Overall this hotel is fantastic value for money!! Would definately recommend.

Friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, even though they are pretty dated.

Hotel is a bit run down, but it was clean and not expensive. The check in required photo ID from all adult guests, which was odd, and they also required a credit card. This was written on a piece of paper so not particularly secure.

Not a great stay, rooms were very shabby, staff not very friendly. Amenities very poor and the whole hotel needed refurbishing

My experience was very positive. The hotel is in great condition for its age; it's clear it's been renovated. Very clean, and the water was hot. The staff was very friendly; the young man who helped me was incredibly attentive. And the location is excellent! Close to the pier and the city center. I would definitely return.

No refund, refused the room for a late check in, Called the police on me for it. Disgusting and awful awful person. (I had my camera running to film this for proof because I simply could not belive what was happening). Quite possibly the most awful experience and customer service I have ever experienced. I booked this place through Booking.com, last minute due to train issues. At no point was there a mention of a late checkin not being possible. (I booked this around 11pm) - I arrived to check in, no receptionist as it was 2am. I waited for around 20 mins buzzing to get in, no luck. One of the other guests let me in. - The "security" guard was there, honestly a waste of space, lying that he could not do anything. He made up a £20 late fee on the spot, to which I said I could not see it on the terms and I was unaware of it. Low and behold, he was not, he was the receptionist the next morning too. - His response was "pay in cash or leave"- I explained that I would pay on credit card and will be contesting it. - At which point, he refused to let me check in, said there was nothing he could do and suggested I leave the property. - I basically refused to do so until I have a refund, he continued to refuse and said I was trespassing. (I filmed all this to be covered btw). - He called the police and was outrightly lying saying I was threatening him, I was not at all, I was incredibly polite and contested the random fees he was making up. - After about 30 minutes of wasting time, he decided to charge me £20 for a late check in. - Asked for £100 in a deposit, not even a hold. He literally charged me £100 for the sake of inconvenience and refunded it and said it would take upto 3-4 working days. - The room was awful, terrible state and honestly the worst possible experience.

Stayed here on Halloween night with some friends paying £28pp. The rooms are not very clean at all and seem neglected. We got back after being out and were locked out for an hour with some other guests. We had keys for the front door wich did not work and the phone was not answered. When a staff member eventually came to open the door he didn’t even say a word to us and seemed annoyed. Was feeling positive when we first arrived but honestly wouldn’t stay here again.

It was lovely staying here, location was perfect near to every attraction and activities, the rooms were clean and cozy, the service was effecient and quick, the staff was cooperative and friendly especially the gentleman Mike :)
