Had a wonderful stay at the Sanctuary and I could not recommend it enough! The view of the lake from the room is stunning, and there is plenty to explore around the grounds, including walking trails and hammocks to lie in. Breakfast is incredible full of good quality and locally sourced produce and was something I really looked forward to every day. Enjoyed kayaking too which was 5 minutes away. Karen and Dave are incredibly kind, accommodating and lovely to chat with. They have built a very special place which I hope is here to stay forever!

It really is a sanctuary! The grounds ,the location,, the breakfast, the hosts, the room...all fantastic. Can't recommend this place enough. Karen and Dave were so friendly and welcoming and inspiring. They have created and built a very special magical place.We had a balcony overlooking the estuary but there are also lovely places to sit or eat outside or even inside around the large kitchen table..Plus the hammocks to relax in. Walking around the grounds was such a treat, birds, butterflies, fruit trees and wild flowers. We will definitely be back. thank you

The most perfect place in everyway! No signal, no WiFi, no TV just pure peace and quiet and the most incredible views. The Sanctuary is a complete haven of luxury with every tiny detail thought out - Albie our dog loved his tray of goodies and the homemade cake was just yummy! Karen is incredibly welcoming and helpful and the rooms are beautifully clean and the bed was super comfy. The local pub does brilliant food and the village is just the perfect escape from our busy lives. Thank you for a wonderful few days of escapism.

This was a delightful place to stay , firstly our bedroom was very clean with a lovely view out across the river. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well ~ we didn't miss the TV in any way It would be worth taking a radio if like me you enjoy radio 4 and hanker after some sound !!... The hosts Karen & David work incredibly hard at ensuring all the guests are very well catered for Although in a rural position there is a nice walk to Fowey which has lots of shops etc Be mindful the drive up is very steep as are the hills but the views well compensate for this ~ when we first arrived we couldn't believe how truly beautiful the place actually is Many thanks for our stay & all your hard work Sarah & Andy at hard at ensuring

Stunning location, all off grid and extremely eco friendly

What a lovely place to take a few days out of the rush of everyday life. Lovely attention to detail in the rooms. Delicious breakfasts using local ingredients, and friendly hosts. Very comfortable beds and bedding made for a great night's sleep. We'll be back!

Fantastic place. Karen and Dave are incredible hosts and have done an amazing job setting up The Sanctuary. Can't recommend enough and we're counting down the days to when we will be back!

Beautiful place

Exceptional. Our stay at The Sanctuary was exceptional in every aspect. If you want to sample the pleasure and peace of staying "off-grid" with no wi-fi or tv, this is for you. If you want to stay in "self-sufficient", solar powered, simple but luxurious accommodation, with glorious views from your room balcony across the Fowey estuary, this is for you. If you want to pass on the standard fry-up and instead enjoy a wonderful continental breakfast full of local and home-made produce, this is for you. Make sure you allow time for the stunning 5km walk along the estuary footpath to Fowey, route plan provided. Walk down the hill to the local village pub "Fisherman Arms" simple home-made pub food and great beer, sit in the garden, next to the estuary, book well in advance though as it is deservedly popular. If all that appeals, then "The Sanctuary" is for you
