Boringdon Hall Hotel & Spa

Boringdon Hall is a Grade I listed 16th-century manor house in Plympton, on the city's eastern edge by Dartmoor, about ten minutes' drive from the centre; Elizabeth I is said to have stayed here. It has 55 individually designed rooms and suites, some with outdoor hot tubs, an adults-only spa with a pool and hydrotherapy pool, and Àclèaf, a restaurant with a Michelin star. You'll need a car or taxi for nights out in town. It's a mainstream hotel, not a gay venue. The Swallow and Sappho's on Bretonside and OMG on the Barbican are the places to go for the city's small queer scene.
