Hotel La Iguana Vallarta LGBTQ+ - Adults Only

The room size is surprisingly large, right in the heart of gay life. The only downside is the noise. The price is very reasonable.

If you're looking for a great location to enjoy the nightlife and a spacious, cool room in exchange for comfort, this option is for you. The service leaves much to be desired. They say there's someone at reception from such and such a time, but no, they leave the reception area unattended for long periods, and if you have any questions or need anything, it's only through WhatsApp, which they don't answer quickly. The terrace is very nice, but they should be more specific about the "pool" since it's actually two wading pools, one smaller than the other. I suppose they're doing renovations because what was really annoying was the horrible noise the workers made in the morning. Imagine arriving home drunk at 4 a.m., trying to sleep, and then at 8 a.m. you hear them dropping tools on top of your room—it almost seems like they're doing it on purpose. The room pleasantly surprised me; it's spacious and well-equipped, but it lacks mirrors, and I hope there aren't any ants in the kitchen. Also, there's a small laundry room where a clothesline would be great, and I'm not sure how safe it is to leave the water heater on there 24/7. Anyway, it's worth the price, especially considering the excellent location, but other than that, I wouldn't stay at La Iguana again unless they change everything I mentioned or I have no other option.

From the moment you arrive until the very last minute, the stay is comfortable, not to mention the attention from the staff.

Very pretty

I just stayed at this hotel for the first time and it was a pleasant surprise. The room was very spacious and comfortable, the reception staff were super friendly. Was there noise? Of course, given the area it's in, but I was able to rest without any problems. Would I go back? Absolutely!

The roof top pool is okay but they close it at 9 pm or earlier so you can forget about a nice midnight soak. The music from neighboring clubs is super loud and hard to sleep with. The refrigerator and microwave weren't even plugged in. The air-conditioner takes a while to activate. There's no elevator I know of. The wifi will cut out right while you're watching something causing your videos to take forever to buffer and the the TV in the junior room is super tiny, not even worth connecting a game console too. I'd think for the price you'd get some awesome accommodations or amenities but just the bare bones. If you want something truly satisfying look somewhere else or save your money and stay at the El Sunset Hostel.

I went with my family, and the hotel is really well located since you can walk to the beach and the viewpoint. My room was so-so, though, because the floorboards creaked a lot, the TV signal was unreliable, and my window was blocked by a wall they had built further down the street, hahaha. My family's room was very nice; it was like an apartment, with a bright kitchen and beautiful natural sunlight. The bad thing was that one of the air conditioners broke down and started leaking water like crazy, hahaha. The hotel entrance lock also has a code lock, and one day it stopped working (I hadn't noticed since I always used the code to leave). What was happening was that you couldn't open it the conventional way, by pressing a button, hahaha. The man noticed because it reset when I entered the code, which happened when I left with my partner and entered the code, hahaha. He asked me if that was how it opened, to which I nodded, thinking he was a guest, when in reality it was the maintenance guy.

I so wish I could recommend this hotel. I was excited to find it. However, I cannot recommend La Iguana to anyone. Aspects of it that would bother some people (heart of downtown and loud bar noise late at night) didn't really bother me. I can sleep through anything. Besides, I will be the first to say that those who leave a negative review based on this should have paid closer attention to where they were staying. The daily rate was excellent and I was looking forward to being grounded in the heart of the LGBT area. For me, that was a big plus, however... This was peak season, and the place was dead. I only ever saw a couple other people there at all. When I arrived, I could smell 'sewer gas' in my room. Fortunately, it seemed to be coming from the shower, and once I ran water down the drain it mostly went away. It was like it hadn't been used in a while and the drain trap had dried out, allowing the gas to come up through. How long had it been? There was a nearby dog that barked non-stop ALL DAY LONG - EVERY DAY I was there. While this is, of course, outside of the hotel's control, it made it impossible to enjoy any part of the rather nice rooftop patio and pool. It could even be heard clearly inside my room, windows closed. The hotel wifi is POOR all the way around - in the room (all in-room TV entertainment is available only via streaming, which the signal strength isn't sufficient for) and on the roof patio (the one time I tried to stick it out with the barking dog). Most importantly, however, it's just a sloppy business operation. Several issues in securing my reservation, including duplicate charges to my credit card, caused me to dispute one of the charges and replace my card just days before my travel. Posted office hours, which are VERY limited, are not followed, so sometimes there is no one onsite when you would expect them to be - including the morning I needed to check out and get to the airport. Reaching someone by phone for assistance was difficult. So... it's a great idea of a hotel, but simply unreliably run - which is too bad because it has all the opportunity in the world to be a huge success.

If you want to sleep before 5 AM, do not stay here. There is loud drumming and banging music all night long and the hotel leaves the lights on so the room does not get dark. It was a very miserable experience. The rooms however we’re clean.

These rooms can be a bit noisey at night, but I sleep through anything. Would not recommend if you’re a light sleeper. Otherwise location is absolutely fantastic. The rooms were in a bit of disrepair. Noisey rattling air conditioner and poorly maintained electrical. The shower also stank if you didn’t cover the waste pipe with the included cover. Bed is big and spacious wide, but oddly short. The mattress was a little too firm for my liking. The rooftop area was a great addition and nice sanctuary to chill.
