Hampton Inn Birmingham/Mountain Brook

Feel like I was robbed. Gym closed and not serving breakfast - neither of which were disclosed during booking. In fact, they are both advertised. It’s like a bait and switch.

The rooms were not great. In the first room the shower door didn’t stay closed and the floor of the shower was dirty. The second room had pieces hanging from the ceiling with what appeared to be mold and once again the shower was dirty and the door didn’t stay closed.

Completely unresponsive staff. My flight was delayed - called and sent 3 chats through the app. After a horrible series of delays I land to find my multi-day reservation canceled despite all my communication

The worst experience. It started when I arrived around 9pm. I stopped at the front desk and told the desk clerk "In my app it told me to stop by the front desk to check in" Immediately the desk clerk says, "Your card declined", I said "Ma'am that's impossible because I paid for this stay in Feb and the funds had already came out of my account so how is my card declined? She says, "Oh what's your name?" I gave her my and name and then she says, "You have to pay a $50 dollar deposit." I said "What I've never had to stop at the front desk before to pay a deposit on a stay that was paid for through the app. I've always went straight to my room. I'm not understanding why this stay is different." The desk clerk tells me it's always been like that she's been working here 8 months and just stayed at a Hilton last week and she had to pay a deposit, and I ought to be glad it's only $50 because it could have been, $100 to $500 deposit, but I can waive it. I said I am an HGV Max owner; I stay at Hiltons all over and I (me) have not had to pay deposit unless I have checked into a resort and they tell you this from the reservations. I am not going to argue with you. So, she says let me go ask my manager and I said yes, you should do that. She comes back and says, my manager says I can't waive the fee. So, I paid the $50 dollars and called Hilton. The representative was shocked at the service I received. I told her how horrible the hotel looked even with the renovations and I took pictures. So, I got settle in when to sleep. Get up the next morning and go to my 8:30am appointment, just to come back to the hotel room at 9:40am to see my door is OPEN, one bed is strip of the sheets. I went to the house keeping lady on the floor and asked her, "why is my room door open, I have not checked out?" She walks back to the room with me. She said, "They check to see if anyone is there and if you are gone, they start cleaning." I said, "I went to an appointment, I had not checked out because I was coming back." as I said this, I went to open the refrigerator where I felt my medication that needed to be refrigerated WAS GONE.I said, where is my medication? The cleaning lady said lets go to the front desk and see if they turned it in and I'll call my supervisor. The front desk clerk said no one have turned in any medication. The cleaning supervisor comes down and tries to explain that if I took my things with me, when they check the rooms, they started cleaning it if no one is in there. I said unexpectable. That is a violation of my privacy. I had not checked out the room, I went to an appointment, I could not take the medication with me because it had to stay refrigerated. The supervisor told me I had an attitude. I said, " Lady, what? I am not yelling at you, cursing at you, or anything. Your team messed up and you telling me I got an attitude. So, I called Hilton back, only to get a representative to tell me there was nothing she can do. That i needed to clear the situation up with the hotel manager or call back once I checked out. The hotel manager never came. I checked out than called Hilton back to file a complaint. To this day no one, I mean no one has call to apologize or anything. I need that medication; I had to call the doctor to see if I could get some just to get home. I live three hours away; I had to get two friends to meet me almost halfway to drive me back home. Don't stay here ever!

I booked a stay with this hotel February 27-28th and paid on my credit card. When checking out they said "you were supposed to be here for 1 more night" I said nope and showed them my booking. They ended up charging me for someone else's 2 night stay and my own 1 night stay. Been disputing it for 3 months and they are fighting hard to not refund me. Shady owner.

This hotel is currently under a total renovation and we weren’t notified of this when we made our reservation. Breakfast is not being served, coffee was not ready at 7am, the fitness center is not open, and the pictures on the website are not correct. Our son will be going to college nearby. The location is great but we won’t be back until we are sure all of the construction is complete.

Visiting family in the area. Hotel is undergoing a remodel. The location was great, front desk friendly, room clean,beds comfortable . Would come back.

Checked out a day early because I did not feel safe after my property was stolen from the room.

I absolutely love the Hampton Inn mainly because of the hospitality and breakfast. This Hampton Inn offered neither. Before booking my room, the hotel staff failed to inform us that the hotel was under renovations. There was no breakfast being served, none of the ice machines were working, the gym was closed, customers had to step over construction materials as they stepped out of the elevator before heading to their rooms. My room started leaking somehow and began to leave a puddle below the room into the foyer area. We were reassigned a room that was not cleaned before being offered to us. The front desk attendant was very rude and disrespectful. Our experience was a total nightmare. Although the Hampton Inn is my favorite hotel, I don't believe that I will be visiting any Hamptons in the near future. And after all of this, we were charged full price..smh

New building. A little construction going on but its a very clean and safe area. Definitely going back.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I don't normally review a lot of things, only if I feel strongly, good or bad. My mistake was not reading the reviews! This hotel is (still) under renovations...on every floor...in every area. I have no idea why a company would choose to renovate this way, but it is not safe to stay here currently. -No free breakfast - only free coffee (my husband raves about the breakfast at Hampton Inns, but not this one) -Meeting room was dusty, workers "wallpapering" etc right by the elevators...leaving a mess of debris there, on the elevators, as well as the hallways, couldn't use (and sometimes couldn't even get to) the fitness center, on Friday, they had no ice machines or vending hooked up, on Saturday they couldn't offer their normal water cooler because there was no ice...they did give us a few bottles of water -The first woman we dealt with was very nice, no one else was. My husband had asked at one point where the ice machines were and the lady just said, "1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors" she wouldn't even come out of the little back room...he said okay, but where are they, which direction, etc? She just replied, "1st, 2nd, 3rd floors"...I guess she was too busy to help. -They had to move us about 20 min after settling in, because our air conditioner was leaking to the first floor...they put us in a different room, we opened the door and they hadn't cleaned it yet...so they moved us again. -The room was okay, but there was noticeable water damage in the bathroom due to the fan not working. -Friday morning, I went down the stairs (from the 5th floor) what would have been our escape route if we had needed it, I was horrified at the mess, construction materials all over, no lights in stairwell by floor 3, several OSHA violations...if it had been an emergency situation, there would have been injuries. The things that upset me the most were that they did NOT mention this construction anywhere on their website while booking (or even mention it after booking, etc.), they didn't offer any discounts or refunds due to the lack of breakfast, lack of cleanliness and lack of safety, and most of the staff was rude. It may not have been the staff's fault that all of this was going on, but if I had been in their position, I would have done whatever I could to help people. Even putting out some muffins/snacks/ etc on the table where the coffee was would have been better than nothing. The Hilton company may want to re-think keeping their name on this hotel! I just became a Hilton member, but really don't trust staying at any Hilton any time soon.

Under complete construction and this was not indicatedon on there website. Dirt everywhere, no complimentary breakfast, bed filthy! Do not stay here.
