This hotel was under renovations and I thought I’d walked into the wrong place at first. It was a mess, construction stuff everywhere, inside and out. My room was clean and the water pressure was strong and hot, but the shower doors are on a slider that is uneven, causing the doors to slide fully open. They do not close and water gets all over the floor. It was noisier than I’m used to for hotels. I could hear every little bump, voice, and shower turning on. Only one elevator worked, so there was always a wait. I asked about breakfast and currently they only offer a lunch sack with a microwaveable breakfast sandwich, an apple, and a Nutrigrain bar. The breakfast sandwich smelled weird and had a meat I didn’t recognize on it, so I ended up throwing it away. I liked the convenience to 2 restaurants and it’s fairly close to my destination, but aside from the water pressure, it was a very unpleasant stay and I would never recommend it. I will not be staying here during my next visit to Birmingham.
The shower was filthy. The hotel was under renovation which is understandable but there was also a smell. I immediately checked out upon arrival in the middle of the night!
I never ever leave reviews. But oh my. Hampton is usually reliable . This is the single worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Like I’m shocked. Also the hotel is under renovation which you don’t know when booking. There’s even paint spackling all over our evacuation map in our room. It’s just nuts. I wouldn’t stay here for free. The lady at front desk was nice.
We were notified prior to our stay that the hotel was under renovation and some amenities would not be available. We were ok with that but we’re not expecting to stay in a full blown construction zone. From the minute you step through the door there was construction material everywhere. We were expecting some areas roped off with construction material etc. but there would randomly be construction equipment in the middle of the hallway or emergency stairs. The building was very humid and hot the entire time. The elevator felt like a dryer venting into it. I’m not sure if the air was broken or what. We cranked the a/c in our room but it just got cold and remained humid. The room was okay, a little small for the size of the beds but we were only staying one night. Very limited storage space. The bathroom was another area that was below expectation. It was obvious someone had cleaned but it was almost like they wiped and left what they wiping up on the surfaces being wiped. There were little clumps of hair on random surfaces. The fan in the bathroom did not work and the shower seemed to only have scolding or freezing as options. This did not help with the humidity. Other than those complains our room was okay. We were told in advance there would be limited breakfast due to the construction, and that what would be provided would be with the coffee in the lobby. We received the breakfast but I was not expecting a microwaved Jimmy Dean sandwich. My kids enjoyed them but it was again below expectation. We used the pool facility which was very nice and clean even with the construction. Though the staff did not know when the construction would be completed, they were very nice and helpful when necessary. The location is an easy drive into downtown and other local attractions. The hotel itself has a very strange layout.
Lady at front desk was friendly and the room we stayed in was great and as expected. The only issue I had was, I had no idea the hotel was under renovation, it was a complete shock upon entering. It was me and my toddler for this visit. The entire hallway smelled of paint and I didn’t like that for my son. They also weren’t doing the hot breakfast, which I was expecting to get with my rate. I double checked and went on my booking and online to see if the renovation process was disclosed, but it was nowhere on the website or the app. Matter of fact, the app and online shows a hot free breakfast, but in this case that was not offered during this day nor the renovation being disclosed. There was one piece of hair in the shower, but that was no big deal and I washed it down. The room was great and the AC was great. The pillows were too soft felt like old pillows. Wish we had a firm ones other than that that was my only complaint.
Do not stay at this hotel. It is currently under construction. There is no hot breakfast available. They will give you a cold egg sandwich and an orange in a brown bag. My first room had a sewage gas smell. The second room did not have a working sink. My sister in law's first room did not have a door that locked. The second room had rotten food in the drawer and a toilet that did not work. My son's room was infested with roaches. I had recommended this hotel to friends and family that was coming in for my daughter's wedding. Everyone either checked out early or found another hotel before checking in. They would not refund my money because it was a pre paid room on a 3rd party site. I submitted a request through the booking site and the front desk denied the request.
Service was terrible front desk attendant just wanted to watch her movie and did not care to help. Rooms were apparently just finished but bathrooms have broken items inside like the toilet roll holder missing and door does not lock. Room keys did not work after the first entry into the room. Lobby is under construction and is a mess.
