Rusk House

Kept calling during my stay. People didn’t really even want to help you check in & their wifi + TV does NOT work. Mind u I spent 600$+

This hotel is very classy and elegant. All the staff were very accommodating to my family, and the restaurant meals were top tier. The manager, David has the establishment in the best condition with an amazing and comfortable atmosphere. Choose the Rusk for your visit to Houston!

Was fortunate enough to stay at The Rusk House for the best night of sleep I've ever had in a hotel bed. The room was the perfect extended stay apartment situation, fully stocked, excellent light, plenty of windows, comfy couch, etc. It had a full bath complete with super hot water and great water pressure, iykyk. 100% recommend! It had walkable access to all resteraunts, a nail salon, and all the downtown businesses like KPMG, United, JPMorgan Chase, Kholer, etc.

The staff was awesome,Tanese, Michael and Brandon, were super helpful, along with all the young men working valet! The room was beautiful very modern, the location is within walking distance, we found lots of good food and shopping and attractions, just walking around! Next time we come to Houston we'll definitely be staying at the Rusk House.

After a hassle at check in with the credit card, we got to our room to have a toilet start overflowing despite nothing being flushed down it. My son's feet and mine were covered in toilet water as we threw towels down and the water continued to gush out. Called the front desk who sent maintenance who took the toilet apart and said it works fine. We asked for a different room and he said we could go to the desk but someone was coming to clean it. We went to the desk to ask for a new room and they supposedly had no rooms available, refused to move us. As my husband was dealing with that, my toddler had to use the bathroom and could not wait. I had to stand in toilet water again and hold her on the toilet covered in it. Someone came in to "clean" it and wiped it up with bath towels, said nothing to me and left. I assumed he was getting someone else to actually disinfect and sanitize the floors, but no one came. We asked the front desk to mop the floors, which at this point multiple people walked through it all and through the rest of the room and we are so disgusted. We waited forever again and no one came. At this point we are hours here, overtired and starving kids and we left to get food. Talked to the desk again and he mumbled someone would come clean it. In the meantime, the contest sponsor who paid for this room contacted the hotel and talked to Brendon who was apologetic and magically found a new room despite being told over and over they had none. By the time we got back, he was off work and we were told the information was not relayed to him and there's nothing they could do. At this point it is well past my kids bedtime having wasted countless hours over all of this and we brought back $135 worth of groceries to the fridge. A few hours later I go to get something out of the fridge and realize it's dead. We go to the desk and the employee won't even look at my husband and just stares ahead and annoyingly says he had two options - move rooms or have maintenance come. My husband asked if we could just use a fridge somewhere and he blankly stared at the wall repeating the options. I had two little kids sleeping and couldn't move them as they lost hours of sleep already over this nightmare so we said send maintenance knowing full well what a waste of time this will be. He comes in, takes a picture of the fridge dial and says 5 minutes. 40 minutes later it is now pushing 1 am, no one comes. We end up at the desk yet again telling the employee we need another room for a fridge for now and we will move all of us in the morning - something that should have been offered to us from the start. He says absolutely nothing, just starts typing in the computer and eventually hands my husband a door key. No info on what time we need to be out, no apology, absolutely nothing. We then go back to toss half the stuff we bought that is now warm and ruined and take the rest to the next floor up. We got to waste the next morning packing everything up and moving everyone to a new room that should have been given to us in the first place, but suddenly magically appeared at 1 am. Go to get ready in this room after we wasted our morning moving to it and the outlet doesn't work in the bathroom. There is no outlet by a mirror that works anywhere, so we wasted another hour with maintenance fixing that. The room had a constant knocking sound, elevator or otherwise and no one got sleep listening to what sounded like someone hammering next to our heads 24/7. I would also highly recommend staying elsewhere based on the traffic noise alone. We have never in our lives encountered such blatant rudeness at a hotel before and they absolutely ruined what should have been a once in a lifetime trip for us. The disrespect and treatment we received was dumbfounding. It now makes sense why it's such an affordable stay. Sleeping in our car would have been better. Management and the parent company didn't bother replying to my emails. Truly, no surprise.

This location is central to everything downtown. The beds are amazing.

The Rusk House itself is super clean, cozy, and full of charm. It’s the perfect mix of comfort and style, with thoughtful little details everywhere that make it feel special. The location is ideal, tucked away in a quiet, peaceful area but still close to everything you might need. It was easy to get around for meetings, grab a bite nearby, or just unwind and explore the neighborhood after a long day. One thing that really stood out to me, especially for business travel, was how functional everything was. There was a comfortable spot to work from with reliable Wi-Fi, plenty of space to take calls or hop on Zoom meetings without feeling cramped, and even cozy common areas where I could recharge between work sessions. It felt more personal and relaxing than a hotel but still had everything I needed to stay productive. And I have to mention the hosts, they were absolutely wonderful! Super friendly, welcoming, and quick to respond if I had any questions. They really go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of, whether you’re here to work, relax, or both. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my next stay. Whether you’re coming for a vacation, a work trip, or a little bit of both, The Rusk House is an absolute gem, you’ll be so glad you booked it!

From the moment I arrived at The Rusk House, I knew I was in for a special experience. Every single detail from the warm welcome to the thoughtful touches throughout the property exceeded my expectations and made my stay absolutely exceptional. The suite itself is stunning: beautifully designed, immaculately clean, and full of character. It manages to feel both luxurious and homey, with a perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The décor is tastefully curated, the common spaces are cozy and inviting, and my room was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. I loved the attention to detail from high quality linens and plush towels to little extras like coffee, organic snacks, and curated books and guides about the area. Even a little apron in the kitchen! The location couldn’t be better. It’s tucked away just enough to feel private and peaceful, yet conveniently close to everything restaurants, shops, and local attractions were all within easy reach. It made exploring the area a breeze, but I also found myself wanting to spend plenty of time just relaxing at the Rusk House itself because it was so welcoming and relaxing. What really made my stay unforgettable, though, was the hospitality. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They were friendly, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure my visit was perfect. It’s clear they put their heart into this property and care deeply about their guests’ experience. Whether you’re visiting for a quick weekend getaway, a special celebration, or an extended stay, I can’t recommend The Rusk House highly enough. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again, I know I certainly will.

Rooms were spacious with comfy beds, solid Wi-Fi and a nice lounge area. However, our late arrival (pre-communicated at group check-in) was mishandled: the reservation was cancelled and front desk Michael was openly rude and unhelpful. After multiple calls with Hotels.com in the middle of the night, we were finally given a room but had to re-purchase the stay. We’ve filed a separate formal complaint with the hotel including full details. The property itself is fine, but one staff member turned this into one of my worst check-in experiences, and I’ll think twice before booking here again unless management addresses it.

Stayed four nights for a business trip. Great rooms and mostly (!) friendly staff. Two stars because of the worst check-in experience I have ever experienced. I arrived late and had informed them of that. They had cancelled my reservation without any notice. I told Michael I realise it wasn’t his mistake but he was incredibly rude. I offered to pay for a new night since it was 1am and just wanted to get some sleep. He refused to let me pay because I was “lippy” because I had told him I found it to be poor customer service to simply cancel a reservation. We had to go through hotels.com for them to speak directly to him and overturn his refusal to provide the room I had booked. Everyone can make mistakes but blaming me for the mistake and giving the rudest hotel experience I have ever experienced turn this stay into a very poor experience.

stayed at Rusk House for a night just to try something different, and it definitely delivered on the experience. Check-in was seamless and easy, and it honestly felt like staying in an Airbnb but without the extra fees. The setup makes it ideal for someone traveling with kids or looking for a comfortable, no-fuss option downtown. Parking was valet, which kept things from being too hectic, and there were plenty of food options both on-site and within walking distance — a nice perk of being in the heart of downtown. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the water bottle/hydration station setup on each floor. It worked, but felt a little odd compared to just having bottled water available in-room. Overall though, it was a smooth, convenient stay — great location, family-friendly, and a unique alternative to a traditional hotel.

My entire stay at Rusk house was amazing. I booked the 1 bedroom king bed apartment with city view! The view was amazing. The images are spot on. Everything in the pictures were just like in person. I love having the kitchen access and living/dining room area. It was like a home away from home. The property is secure which is a plus for me. There is valet or public parking across from the property if you choose to decline valet ( I’m not sure of the public parking cost per day). Being in the middle of downtown and having access to great restaurants/nightlife is a plus for me as well. I will definitely stay here again.

The only downside is that there's no parking inside the hotel. You have to look for parking outside in another building.
