Hilton Garden Inn Independence

This was not the typical HGI. The elevator carpets are disgusting and the overnight staff weren't even responsive or friendly. It's just not as nice as other ones I've stayed at in the past. :(

We currently have approximately 43 rooms booked at this property, and there are significant quality and service concerns impacting multiple team members: Reports of mold in bathrooms, including on deteriorating caulking around bathtubs and along wall enclosures, as well as on some shower curtains. Noticeable stains on carpet in several rooms. Plumbing issues, including sinks backing up and in some cases overflowing with brown-colored water. Lack of hot water in certain rooms. Air conditioning units that are not functioning effectively. Only one operational elevator available at this time. (Hopefully, doesn't break down with the increased use). In addition to the facility concerns, there are also serious service issues: Some reservations were canceled after flight delays, and guests were subsequently rebooked at significantly higher nightly rates ($300–$400). Guests have been told they must check out the following day despite needing accommodations through Friday (today being Wednesday). A request for management follow-up was made, with a commitment of a return call within one hour; however, it has now been nearly three hours with no response. Given the severity and breadth of these issues, this property is being removed as an option from our corporate travel program. These concerns are creating a highly negative experience for our team and require immediate attention and resolution.

The Missouri Mayflower Society held our Spring Luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn, Independence, MO. The staff and food was excellent. The room setup was beautiful and the staff was excellent in helping with audio visual setup. We highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn for all events. We will definitely book with them again! Please read the reviews before booking this hotel! It was extremely disgusting and uncomfortable staying here and very concerning as we were there for the KC Gold Soccer Tournament so several families were staying there. It was the worst Hilton hotel I’ve stayed in and would never recommend this hotel and location. As a frequent traveler and a patron of the Hilton brand, I am formally requesting a comprehensive quality assurance and corporate health evaluation of this hotel. Upon entering the hotel lobby, and more acutely within the guest rooms and hallways, there was a heavy, stagnant, and deeply unpleasant odor. The smell was a mix of persistent mildew, stale moisture, and inadequate ventilation. For a property hosting young athletes, the lack of clean, fresh air circulation is a health concern. The property requires immediate capital improvement. The carpets throughout the hallways and guest rooms are heavily stained, frayed, and physically worn down. Fixtures in the room were loose, wallpaper was peeling at the seams, and the overall aesthetic has not been updated in what appears to be decades. The room was not properly sanitized prior to check-in. Surface dust was thick on vertical surfaces, the bathroom grout showed visible mold and grime buildup, and the upholstery on the room seating felt grimy and unwashed. Dark stains all over elevator floor, hallway floors and room. The level of neglect suggests a severe shortage of housekeeping oversight or a complete lack of basic operational standards. Basic amenities were struggling to function. The air conditioning unit in the room struggled to regulate temperature, likely contributing to the damp, humid environment and odor in the room. There was definitely mold in the room.

Pool and hot tub were dirty

This place is a hole. Dirty rooms and bathroom showers have major stains. Desperately needs a remodel. I would not suggest staying here. I am shocked Hilton has not shut them down.

Very dirty yuck. Wont stay here again. Evefything is beat up and scratched old evefything. Looks run down . 3 colors of walls in one room. Hilton should not put their name on this location. The hotel in columbia is nicer except it is 8 miles off the highway.

This hotel is being remodeled, but the problems were deeper than cosmetic. The electrical system seemed to be a problem— the ice machine on our floor appeared burned out and was nonfunctional. Our room filled with smoke when we tried to use the microwave for 30 seconds, set off the alarm, and fire department was called. Only one elevator was functioning. The room looked old and over used, with some splashes on the wall not cleaned off before we checked in. The old lighting was better than most Hilton hotels these days. The driveway overhang was blocked off, forcing us to unload in the rain. On the plus side, it was in a great location with a trail running behind the building and a decent restaurant a few feet away.

We booked a Jr. Suite for 6 nights. First they called and wanted us to accept a standard room because they double booked the room, offering us points instead of a refund. We told them no. We got to our Jr Suite and it was very beat up with marred furniture, tarnished mirror, the tub was dirty, one of the two air conditioners didn't work, the refrigerator was super noisy and not in the cabinet space it should have been in, the sink was cracked and chipped, we were very disappointed and checked out after one night.
