The Flat NYC - Hotel & Event Space Nowy Jork

I like the place, it's basic and the rooms are small but if you don't need the space it's fine. My room is nice. Not a good place if you're physically disabled though. Lots of stairs and no elevator. Will probably stay here again next time in I'm New York City.

Excellent value for money! My husband and I stayed in a room with a private bathroom and it was excellent. It has a great structure. My father traveled with us and stayed in a room with a shared bathroom and had no problems. There's a small area where you can get water and make tea or coffee. On the first floor, there's a vending machine to buy drinks. There's no elevator in the building, only stairs. The location is excellent. It's one block from the iconic Flatiron Building and half a block from Fifth Avenue. There are numerous restaurant options nearby, as well as subway stations. When I return to NYC, I will definitely stay at The Flat again.

I have booked it for a guest friend that came to visit me in NYC. Since he was landing at 5am, I’ve booked the night before just so he can check in and have a warm shower as it was the peak of the winter. The room had freezing water, he came down to the reception and she told me to take a shower in a different floor which also had freezing water. He came back down and she simply said “yeah maybe the heating is not working right now” It’s a disgrace for someone to pay hundreds of dollars for 2 nights although actually using the room for less than a day without warm water and not even suggesting a refund for this horrible experience. Never again.

I loved this little hotel. It is great value for money. Everyone that works there is very sweet and kind. Especially the guy who works late nights normally whose name escapes me at the moment. He was very caring and friendly. I will def stay again but will request a lower floor room. I was on the very top and it was a lot for me to walk after a long day walking the city as I'm almost a senior citizen LOL!! Also the only niggle I have is the building is older and the windows are not insulated/double glazed. My window was facing an alley and there was noise 24/7 of different goings on. Not so much that it kept me awake (I kept the ac on just for white noise). Next time I will ask for a first floor room and try the other side building! Also hot water ran out in the morning but I was kind of late to the party when I showered. But, as I said, the excellent value, cleanliness and cuteness of the property made it a great place to land in my old home town. Thank you...

My experience at The Flatt NYC was wonderful. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were comfortable and lovely, and it's simple. When you go to NYC, you don't spend much time in a hotel, and for the short time you do spend there, The Flatt is highly recommended. The shared bathrooms are super clean and in good condition; I always found them empty. They also have free coffee/tea and water 24/7. I felt very comfortable and would definitely return many more times!

First time stay review: Purpose?.. Early morning train to Boston from NY Penn and needed a no frill stupidly expensive place to stay overnight in order to make the connection The good.. Location to nypenn and amtrak train Hall... And the price.. And the service of checking in and out at any time of night or early morning and a free coffee and hot tea bar all hours with fridge to store your own things if needed. The bad... Quality. Paper thin walls.. Almost no privacy.. No heater in room.. Portable heaters that were provided did not work.. Right over a club or bar so the noise is ridiculous.. The street cleaning all night long is also stupid loud.. No elevator in building and crooked stairs.. If not careful you will trip and roll your ankles.. Narrow hallways.. Most rooms without bathroom.. Communal shared bathrooms for the entire floor.. At least there's 2 and they're maintained clean. Low water pressure for shower and hot water takes a long long time to kick in.. Oh and no TV remote.. So good luck changing channels manually if at all Recommended? No. I'd rather spend another 100 bucks and stay at the Hampton Inn or something else nearby

The best thing is the location. You won't find this price in Manhattan. The room space is comfortable. The heater and air conditioning work well. Coffee, water, and tea are always available. The staff are friendly. The shared bathrooms aren't a problem since there are bathrooms on every floor. Super close to the subway station. The only downside is the lack of an elevator. I stayed on the fifth floor, but that wasn't a problem either. I highly recommend it and would stay again.

Clean, central location, but my room was on 4th floor with no elevator. It was a struggle to get my luggage up 3 flights of narrow, slanting stairs. It would have helped to have help at least.

Location is solid—Midtown Manhattan, easy walk to Times Square, Penn Station, theaters, and subways. Great central spot for getting around NYC without being right in the loudest chaos. Rooms were basic and clean with comfy beds, but small, dated decor, thin walls, and some wear (typical budget NYC feel). Functional, nothing fancy. Service was okay—some friendly staff at check-in, but slow responses and felt understaffed overall. Good budget option for the prime location—would consider again if price stays low. 4 stars overall.

A client of mine is staying there tonight into tomorrow morning. He has issues walking he has a cane, and you guys decide to put him on the fourth floor? Not to mention, you did not help him with his bags. his room has no heat & he's a diabetic. His initials are J.D.H, if anything happens to him, you'll have a major lawsuit on your hands. People need to stay away from this place.

It was a great stay. The room was very clean, and I was especially satisfied with the staff—everyone was kind and helpful. I felt safe during my stay. If I come back to New York, this will definitely be the place I stay again. Special thanks to Eddy for helping me with my booking issue.
