Extended Stay America Suites-Norwalk - Stamford
Many visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff, with specific mentions of individuals like Sasha and Mirvy. However, some guests found the lobby, elevator, and rooms to be shabby and dated, contradicting other reviews that describe recent refurbishments.

Not a horrible place. Staff was pretty accommodating. Didn’t have enough available kitchenware. My only issue is that the room had a musty smell. Like a wet dog. Beds were comfy. Not quite a breakfast, but coffee with muffins and oatmeal are set out every morning. Located right off the Hwy.
Horrible experience. Front desk worker, Tiara, is extremely rude and unprofessional.
Easily the absolute worst hotel experience I’ve had, especially considering this property charges rates comparable to far nicer hotels in the area. The stay was plagued by issues from beginning to end, but the most shocking part was our interaction with a front desk employee named Tiara. About a week after check-in, we were assessed a $1,000 “no-show” charge despite having called ahead about our late arrival, checked in, and completed our stay. When we went to the front desk to understand how guests who physically stayed at the hotel could be charged as no-shows, Tiara became hostile almost immediately. Rather than explaining the charge or helping us reach someone who could, she refused to provide answers, refused to connect us with a manager, repeatedly told us management would come in “when they come in,” and then began yelling loudly at us. We have audio recordings of portions of the interaction. In years of travel, I have never had a hotel employee lose their composure so quickly while guests were simply trying to understand a charge on their account. Even the other employee present appeared uncomfortable and astounded with how the situation unfolded and how badly Tiara handled us. Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel reflected the same lack of professionalism and basic requirements. Our room keys were repeatedly deactivated during the stay, requiring multiple trips to the front desk. The room had a stale odor, housekeeping was minimal, furniture and cabinets were heavily worn, the HVAC system was loud and outdated, extremely slow wifi, and the property generally felt neglected and old. I've attached just a few photos of how bad this place is. Mistakes happen. What matters is how they’re handled. Being charged $1,000 as a supposed “no-show” after actually staying is bad enough. Having a front desk employee respond by yelling at guests and refusing to provide access to management is inexcusable. For the price, there are far better options in Stamford. I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
ZERO eating or cooking supplies. Both corporate and location-specific website say that "Dining and cooking utensils provided." In the lobby, there are several signs offering to "customize your kitchen," and that to get additional supplies, you just need to ask. So we checked in, went grocery shopping, and when we got back we asked for the basics: coffee maker, toaster, dishes, forks, spoons, cups, etc. NO, we were told the property has NONE. When I asked about a discounted rate because we now have to go buy paper plates and plastic utensils (but obviously we aren't going to buy pots/pans or a coffee maker), I was told, no, these items are "optional" and are clearly not considered an essential part of our stay. Beyond this core complaint, the property is a very mixed bag: good beds, okay bathrooms, new hallways, but then there's cabinets that don't close, shelves not fully in place, dated appliances, an underwhelming fitness center, and no shortage of loud voices and music past 10 pm.
Room was clean, staff were very welcoming, hotel felt safe and location was good. Great price.
The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The kitchen has everything you need if you don't want to do Uber Eats. Sasha, at the front desk, is who I primarily spoke with about booking extending my stay, even last minute, making it work so I didn't have to scramble for another room. The prices are great for the weekdays and they make sure you are comfortable and well taken care of. Don't judge a book by it's cover, the rooms are very comfortable and you can't even hear your neighbors.
