DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Rochester

Beautiful atrium with pool.

This location is only near the parkway but not really considered Rochester but actually henerita. The room has damaged decor and when I checked in my room there was no soap or any other type of amenity in the bathroom . The hotel charges higher rates to include breakfast but then institute a tax amount on that rate as well so you end up actually paying higher then the out of pocket cost or breakfast buffet. Breakfast closed earlier than the time it was supposed to be available too. They had a rowdy huge conference crowd who ended up setting off the fire alarm and the hotel had to be fully evacuated at 11 pm in the evening . Despite all this they didn’t offer anything complimentary not even my $35 dinner charge . I wouldn’t recommend this hotel

Here is a list of issues we encountered as a group: After communication back and forth with the General Manager, there was no compensation or resolution to the problems we encountered. The sales manager and front desk people were very nice and trying to accommodate everyone but could not take care of all the problems they were having. Room Availability: #22 rooms were reserved. More than 50% of the rooms were not ready at the 4:00 PM check-in time. Some families were still waiting past 8:15 PM. One family (Wythe) was initially assigned an incorrect room type despite prior accommodation requests due to a child and a special‑needs relative. Elevator Out of Service: One elevator was non-operational throughout most of the weekend, resulting in extended waits or guests using stairs with luggage and medical equipment. A repair technician was not observed until Sunday morning. Room Cleanliness: Room 609: Used, unwrapped tampons were found in the bathroom trash upon arrival; no spare toilet paper was available. Supplies arrived around 12:30 AM. Three families were assigned rooms that had not been cleaned at all and were required to return to the front desk and wait for housekeeping. Maintenance Issues: One family experienced no hot water and a backing-up toilet. A plumber was unable to complete repairs and stated overtime work was not permitted, which I thought was concerning for a guest service industry. Another family had a room door that would not close properly and also lacked toilet paper, resulting in a two-hour delay. Room 120: The door can only be closed by lifting it, posing a concern.

Dirty towels in the room for the NYS girls golf championships. 3-4 girls in a room, one towel in the room upon check-in was dirty, and that left one towel. Girls called front desk only to be told “it will be a while.” The hotel knows how many to a room. It is completely inappropriate to not provide adequate towels and then when told they have one usable towel for 3 guests, they need to wait a while. This is the second year in a row of athletes being treated poorly at this location, despite being told things would improve.

Throughout my stay, the bartender, Teresa was very kind and went out of her way to make sure my stay was perfect. She was very personable and easy to talk too. On Thursday, both Mariah and Teresa served me and did a great job. Otherwise, the hotel rooms are very dated and many of the outlits did not work. I was with the NYSATE Conference and preferred the hotel bar compared to the bartender bar. I do recommend that both bars get more alcohol choices. I also really appreciate Ashley A from banquets. She was so helpful and personable.

Stayed here for a quick trip home to visit family. John the Supervisor at the front desk was awesome. Professional, very detailed and friendly. It is an old hotel, but they have done a remodel. My only complaint would be that every night we heard other guests doors slamming. I dont know if this was the weight of the doors or just discourteous guests. We stayed on the 1st floor. Other than that, the location was perfect for us with a lot of shopping/dining options and had no other issues. It was nice that they had fireplaces and a lounge inside. Would stay here again.

Friendly staff, clean, seemed to be recently updated...but still an old facility. Parking lot needs repaired.
