Hotel Restaurant Goldener Schlüssel

Spectacular! Arriving in Switzerland and finding a Peruvian woman (I think) at reception was wonderful! We were able to talk and get to know each other, since I'm Argentinian and live in Italy... That's a great start to my workday! Thank you!

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of the old town, with public parking (at a reduced rate thanks to the hotel) very close by. We had a charming room on the 4th and top floor, under the eaves, with a small balcony. The small shower room was well integrated into the room. We were slightly disappointed with the breakfast, which wasn't as extensive as we had expected.

A charming hotel with a very atmospheric restaurant and tasty food. The breakfast is also very fresh and tasty. The hotel is good value for Switzerland, and the staff are really friendly and helpful 😊

Thankfully, we were only there for one night. The hotel is outdated, run-down, unmodern, and noisy because the street was full of bars. Breakfast was an absolute disaster. Hard croissants, one baguette. If you arrive later than 9 a.m., pretty much everything is gone and isn't replenished. I really can't recommend it.

Very pleasant yet far too short stay here. Nice rooms, great stairwell. Pleasant staff and friendly as well. Multilingual and informative. Well placed.

Well-located restaurant/hotel in Bern's lower Old Town. Cozy atmosphere, delicious food at fair prices.

The hotel is located in the heart of Bern's Old Town, just steps from public transport, the Zytglogge clock tower, and within walking distance of the Federal Parliament Building. The location is exceptionally central and ideal for exploring the city center on foot. The building itself is historic and blends harmoniously into its surroundings. Upon entering, the hotel appears rather small and simple, with a functional reception area. The rooms are functionally furnished and some are quite compact. The amenities are basic: a bed, a small workspace, a bathroom, and the usual hotel standards. The building's age is noticeable in some areas, such as the layout and soundproofing. Depending on the room's location, it can be somewhat noisy due to the Old Town or other guests. Overall, the hotel is clean and tidy, but lacks any particular comforts. A gap under the door, which prevented the room from being completely darkened, is a nuisance. The bed also creaked quite a bit. Breakfast is served in the adjoining restaurant. The selection is limited but covers the essentials: bread, cold cuts, cheese, coffee, and a few simple additions. The quality is solid, but rather basic. Sufficient for a short stay, but somewhat lacking in variety for longer stays. The service is adequate, including in the restaurant. For a hotel right in the old town, the prices are reasonable. However, it's worth noting that comfort and amenities are only average. Overall, the value for money is acceptable, especially considering the very central location. A simple, centrally located city hotel with functional furnishings and friendly service. Particularly suitable for short stays where location is more important than comfort or quiet. Overall, adequate to good, with its location being a clear strength.

Perfectly located for exploring the heart of Bern's old town. The hotel has been tastefully renovated. Some rooms and their bathrooms are better suited to smaller guests. Rooms near the kitchen can be noisy when the brewery's ventilation system is running. The hotel offers a discount on parking at the Rathaus.
