Hotel Shibari Tulum

This property is absolutely stunning and in a great location. Very close proximity to nearby restaurants, pharmacy, and other shops. I wanted to take a moment to highlight Shibari’s very own restaurant, Atta, Randy specifically exceeded all expectations and anticipated our every need. He began to remember our order and that we enjoyed Tabasco hot sauce with our meals. Very pleasant attitude, always has a warm and welcoming smile, would bring toast with our breakfast without asking and just took great care of my mother and I while on vacation. While every staff member at Shibari has been more than accommodating, Randy stood out to us as we became regulars for breakfast. On the days he was off or working at another location on the premises, he was missed! We will be back to Shibari Tulum. Thank you!

This was the most beautiful hotel I have even stayed at. They have their own cenote which is amazing. They have Atta, their restaurant. They have delicious food and drinks. Our waiters David Santos and Victor were the best. This hotel is close to many restaurants and beach clubs. 10/10

There are hotels that make you feel welcome, and there are hotels that don’t. Unfortunately, Shibari was one of them. Everything feels centered around money, with very little generosity or genuine hospitality. The moment you are no longer considered valuable to the hotel, the attitude toward you changes as well. From the beginning of the check out process, you stop feeling like a guest and start feeling like a suspect. We were kept waiting for about 30 minutes while they checked the room, and the whole experience became uncomfortable and unpleasant. We have stayed at many hotels before, and in almost every one of them we were even invited to continue enjoying the pool and facilities after check out for as long as we wanted. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. Not only are you not allowed to stay and enjoy the hotel after check-out, but they also hand you an exit pass, and suddenly you feel like a complete outsider instead of someone who was a hotel guest just moments before. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. But that alone is not enough when the staff looks at you less like a guest and more like a dollar sign.

We had a magical 4-night stay at Hotel Shibari Tulum. It’s a calm, beautifully designed oasis with standout service across the board—from reception and concierge to security and the restaurant team. Daily yoga was the perfect reset, and the breakfast is hands down the best in Tulum. We left feeling relaxed, recharged, and already planning our return. ✨

Special occasion? Don't celebrate it here! We ended our USA trip with a relaxing vacation at Shibari. My partner was secretly planning his proposal. When we arrived at the hotel, we weren't offered a welcome drink. However, we were given a tour of the grounds, which we appreciated. We booked a suite with a pool. The room was very nice, large, and clean, just like the pictures. We didn't use the pool because it didn't look inviting and was dirty. Breakfast was included. The quality of the food was excellent, but there was only a small selection on the menu (for those with breakfast included). The selection was the same every morning, and after a while, we got tired of it. We would have liked more variety. The resort itself is fantastic, especially the cenote, which is a highlight. A DJ provides a daily dose of fun in the water. Now we come to our very sad experience. My partner, along with a friend who was also staying at the hotel, was secretly planning the engagement. The plan was that when we returned from the beach proposal in the morning, the room would be clean and decorated, breakfast prepared with a bottle of wine, and a bouquet of flowers waiting for me. Of course, this was all for an extra charge. When we returned, none of this had been done. After several inquiries, we were told there had been a misunderstanding and therefore nothing had been prepared. We didn't even receive the bouquet of flowers until hours later. After I contacted the hotel again myself, explaining how upset my partner and I were and how much we would appreciate a small gesture, we were given a piece of cake. The fact that I even had to point out that a gesture would be appropriate was outrageous. And then to be served with just a piece of cake was even worse. To top it all off, we were then charged €150 for the bouquet of flowers. I pointed out that it was outrageous to charge us for it after the most beautiful day of our lives had been so disrespected. The response was rude and disrespectful. After asking for the manager, we were turned away and simply told we had to pay. In conclusion, I'd like to say that the hotel itself is fantastic, and the staff at the pool and restaurant are very helpful, but otherwise, you're just ripped off with "extra charges," and any special occasion is ignored, and you can't expect any kind of accommodation. We will be filing a complaint and demanding a refund!

Nice and comfortable, but I think it could be better for the price.

My friends stayed at this hotel, and honestly, the experience was very disappointing. I came to drop them off, and they wouldn't even let me in to leave them at the door. The security guards, every time I tried to talk to them, simply turned their backs on us and left us talking to ourselves, sometimes even in the rain, without any communication whatsoever. It's a place that pretends to be luxurious and very expensive, but unfortunately, it doesn't offer even the most basic level of customer service. The person at the front desk was quite rude, doesn't know how to listen to people, and the access policy is simply absurd. It's a shame to see this kind of service in a destination like Tulum, because hospitality should be a priority, especially in places that present themselves as high-end hotels.
